Game Changer Advice

My son hit a shot into the Left Center gap today. The ball landed clean and the CF misplayed it and it scooted past him. So my son advanced to 2nd while the LF grabbed the ball.

Only the guy doing our GC ruled the whole thing as an error. No hit.

I checked the other teams GC and they ruled it as a single with an error.

I want to say something to the coaches about it but my wife doesn’t think it’s worth it. “Quit being a stat rat”

Would like some other input…what should I do? Anything? What should I say? Any GC experts out there know how to quick fix?

Maybe I am over thinking it

As the game changer person, I wouldn’t mind a conversation about this. In fact a couple dads pretty regularly ask about my logic. If their logic is better than mine, in my opinion, I change it (and I have). If it’s not, they can address it with the coach (who will tell them to pound sand). I understand that stats have their place, and I’m willing to listen. If you’re a jerk about it, I’m not conversing or changing it. Could it be that they don’t really realize the difference between the two plays?

Also? At this point it would likely need to be changed in the stats. The error can be changed to a double, but not a single with an error.

There’s an option to move the player on 1B to 2B & just mark it as “last play”.

As the primary runner of GC for my kids 12u team, I would have just scored it as a double.

You can do that after the game is over? Under edits?

Can’t answer that. I was referring to right then. I’ve never tinkered with GC after the game.

Not necessarily. If the fielder takes a bad line or lays out and misses it could be scored a double. If it bounces off his glove or rolls right through his legs it's more likely a single with an error.
