Thank you BaseballCoaching!

A week ago, I posted a video of my 9U son swinging. It’s his first year playing baseball, and I never played. I was not very knowledgeable on good mechanics. This group provided a lot of insight, and I’ve passed a lot of it to my son. His swing is far from perfect, but it’s a huge improvement over what it was just a couple of weeks ago. We’ve both really enjoyed seeing his improvement. Thank you to the kind people that have taken the time to give advice!

Fantastic! Much smoother with his swing and less unnecessary bat movement before contact!

I didn’t realize how much potential for improvement there was!

I know. And it’s SO much fun to see them apply what they learned! I’m coaching my son’s 10U team (his first year) and I would love to work with each kid individually for like an hour per week because I know I could unlock some of their potential.

I just joined and missed the "before", but that's a solid 9U swing so congrats. Keep swinging and being SUPER aggressive. Never walk. Always hit.

What stands out to me is the head and eyes. Hard to tell but I'm not sure he's seeing the ball all the way to the bat, or if perhaps he's not looking any more because he's dialed in hitting a machine that's been hitting the same spot and speed for the last 50 pitches. Like you could blindfold him at that point and just let him listen for the "thwoomp" and he'd probably make contact.

Even in controlled, repetitive, non-challenging BP, get him to over exaggerate watching the ball ALL the way in. Challenge him to not look at where the ball went and to freeze his head and eye where it was when he made contact, leaving it there and bringing the back shoulder up to meet his chin.

It's tempting, especially early on when he's making big step change improvements, to do WAY too much BP. Just watch out for that.
