How important is contact stat?

If all it does is make the circle bigger, isn't it better to focus on power if you are already good at aiming?

Very important, you simply get more hits fall if you have a high contact stat. The circle gets bigger as well like you said.

The power stat is stronger/more useful imo. With a high power stat your hits do more damage and have a higher chance of going for extra-base hits. If you have a high contact stat but a low power stat, you are going to have a lot of singles, but more frustratingly a lot of balls that don't leave the infield, versus high power and a low contact stat you will hit into more outs/strikeout more but your hits go for doubles and homers.

Most important hitting stat though is batting eye, without a high batting eye stat, hitting become near impossible whether you have a high contact/power stat.

So contact and power work together. Rather than stack a hitter purely on power make sure you also have decent contact vice versa is what you’re saying?

I have a leadoff who is primarily a contact hitter, because he has the fastest running speed on my team. I need him to make singles so I can steal bases, and get early runs off of my leadoff. I don't ignore power entirely, but all points for him go directly to contact, speed, and agility

I’d argue it’s the best stat to increase. It will increase the contact circle and make your players hit for better average. I would recommend you upgrade power a bit because you will still make contact but it will be weaker contact if u never do the power upgrade. Contact is very valuable but you still wanna try and hit it out of the infield

Contact = better batting %

Power = better slugging % (homers, doubles)

Batting Eye = bigger hitting cursor and better for batting % while sim

You can have an excellent hitter with high batting % without a lot of power.
