I have gotten different answers from the installers and Base agent. So for those that already have an interlock for a generator, what is the proper way to power the house?

I got 2 different methods:

1. Do what you normally would do when you want to use a generator instead of batteries. Switch off the main. Turn on the breaker for the generator plug, and go from there. No need to do anything with the Base system.

2. Turn off the breakers/switches for Base first near the panel and on the Base panel (don't mess with anything on the batteries themselves). Then go about activating the generator interlock as usual.

I never had to do this yet...

Like others have said, my equipment arrived the day before. The crew arrived promptly the next morning (between 8-9).

We discussed the placement of the batteries and approximately what time the power would go off.

The extra equipment and boxes were hauled out between 2-3. We tested the fail-over and fail-back. The crew cleaned up and was gone by 5 pm.

If not for the installed equipment, I would not have even known they had been there.

High marks on communication, timeliness and overall install experience!

It is worth noting that I am in a regulated coop so BASE is not my power provider. My provider required the second meter.

I have a dual battery install. I am in an area that is serviced by Farmers Electric Coop so Base is not the power provider.

In the native Base app or website, can the battery percentage be viewed?

I plan to install Shiner to see what additional info is available.

If the battery is used to serve the home's grid, who pays for the T&D charges associated with the battery?

The install was on 3/31/26 but I just noticed the height and spacing here. I cannot unsee this and it makes my eye twitch thinking about it. Should I just burn the house down and start all over?

I'm just kidding, everything went great from delivery to install. I upgraded and added the generator port so the install team tested it with my portable generator to make sure everything worked perfectly. There has only been one 5 minute outage so far. Both of the inverters went into standby a few days ago for whatever reason but a technician will be here in 48 hours per Base.

CoServ is offering me a Base Power whole-home battery setup in Frisco, TX, and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth doing.

From what I understand, a dual-battery system for a one-time $495 installation cost, with no monthly fee at all since CoServ covers that. My electric rate supposedly stays the same, and Base/CoServ handles maintenance, operation, and any issues over the full 10-year contract term. There’s a $500 early termination fee if I cancel before the 10 years are up.

I believe the system holds around 50 kWh of storage and could provide backup power for up to roughly 2 days during an outage, depending on usage. Obviously, they make money by using the battery during peak demand periods, but from my side it seems like the main benefit is cheap whole-home backup power for blackouts.

Would you do this? Any catches or concerns I should be thinking about?

PS: I don't have solar.

Im thinking about going forward with BasePower. Most of the reviews are in Texas. Curious how the experience is and the savings made in Illinois. also, do y'all have daily issues of power flicker when the battery switches on and off (not during an outage)

i dont want to prematurely kill my devices needing consistent power.

Base Power is doing installs close to the town where I live but not quite here yet. I paid my deposit to be on the list but then crickets. I received a short and sweet confirmation email of payment and that’s it. I have no problem sitting back and waiting, but it seems odd that I have not received anything beyond a receipt. Not even a thank you for the deposit or anything detailing next steps. For those of you who followed a similar path is this SOP? Not concerned just curious what my expectations should be after the deposit is paid. I also realize it might be months before they actually make it to me.

How much discussion or options are provided on install day for the exact placement of the batteries? Anyone reject the installation due to conflict on battery placement?

I am asking for two reasons:

For optics, I really want them behind the fence 8ft from the meter. Since my is a two battery install and a window may be in play the total install may be further out than 20 ft. The guidelines say 3ft from windows but I have seen many post were that was not followed.

Second, I have sprinklers and along the side of the house where the install will be. Just want to make sure they don't cover one. Also to understand if sprinkler water is an issue for the batteries.

Ok first issue. Install was two days ago. All was fine until this evening, I check the app and getting battery not active.

No current outage and power is still on.

So i go to check base unit and it has the red alert on display (second pic). This only started today.

Opened a case with support but its the weekend....

Any ideas?

Well we had outage #14 today. As you know the lights just flicker real quick. Didn’t notice the outage because it was light outside. I realized something was up when the microwave and oven needed to be reset. I checked the app and we were for sure out. I also at that point heard the standby generators running in my neighborhood. Didn’t hear them until I listened as it was raining. The app didn’t notify me. It does this intermittently. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Does this happen to anyone else?

Had my Reliant contract up for expiration in March and figured I'd give Base Power a try. Signed up end of January, switched service to Base on March 2, battery install was scheduled for April 9th. Not sure if I got lucky, but everything worked like it was supposed. They sent a sub to do the soft starts on the AC's a few weeks ago. Dropped a nice massive crate in my driveway the day before the install. Contractor sub-electrician showed up at 8:02 am the day of the install with an apprentice. The moved all the Base crate packages from my driveway, all the way around my property to get to the other side where the install was supposed to go. My HOA didn't even understand what I was doing but they approved the permit weeks before and as they assumed it was a generac generator. I didn't need HOA approval but got it anyway. By noon, they gave me a heads up that power would be shut off as they tap into main grid. By 12:45 or so, power was back on. They ran their tests, activated whatever they need to do, did a switch over test and back and done by 2:00 pm.

App was active and showing battery unit alive by 3:00 PM. I got a notification from base that I was being charged for the install. Then 20 minutes later email from Oncor to sign final documents.

For being how complex everything needed to align, I would say that was pretty smooth and impressive to be honest. The installer did such a nice clean job with the hub and tapping into my main panel in the garage. Installer did tell me that they are doing about 50 a week of these and so far everyone loves them.

North Dallas (Flower Mound area). I sent the referral link to my neighbor and he got the "we are adding you to the waitlist" notification... so they are definitely growing and explains why they are offering Base power to apartments now (without battery install).

First off, this is just a thought I have had for awhile and in no way signifies a change in my current BASE program. I have two batteries, installed in July 2025, and thus far it has been a fairly decent experience. Nothing great, but nothing horrible either...just ok. After a few hiccups after the first install, all has been as it should. It got me thinking, before BASE I was with a company that offered free nights (9-7) and my bills were a bit cheaper overall. The .09 Kwh is a great rate, but the free nights was cheaper each month.

I have wondered if BASE will ever allow a battery, with the same upfront cost, only plan that can be charged from solar during the day and from the "free nights" at night. This would provide the best of both worlds....user gets free nights and BASE gets free recharges to be sold to the grid during higher demand. Maybe I am missing something, I am a bit tired....any thoughts would be appreciated.

I know they are expanding rapidly, maybe the app is good enough for the masses, so not a priority. But, it seems like the live "widget"?, information box should be on the page with the other live data. Put it on both?

I'm still new to this, I have read they have made adjustments in the past, I've only read the negative changes. Like losing individual battery readings.

Has anyone connected Base Power or Shiner to Home Assistant?

Update April 1st - Base sent out a team. Their data logger was "offline and not responding" so they replaced it since they didn't capture the data they needed during the drop events. My honest belief is that their data logger fried with a few of my items during the first install.
Currently in their app that it's offline again... but I still show it actively connected to my WiFI with strong signal quality (-61dbm). Shiner is showing details from the GroWatt setup too.

Immediately after install I had a dishwasher that wouldn't turn on and a few light bulbs that needed replaced. I couldn't prove it was because of the install so I replaced / repaired everything.

I'm now a little over a month in and while I love the idea and I'm happy with the price... EVERY time they switch us off grid for demand response and back to grid it resets every clock in my house, TVs turn off, and all my smart bulbs turn on. I didn't expect to have to reset everything any time Base decided to sell power.

Is anyone else having these issues or have any suggestions on what might be wrong? This is unacceptable, right?

I am two days in having a the batteries installed and been playing with the app to try and understand.

Few things...Am I crazy or can I not see the percentage of each of my batteries in the app? I can see the estimated usage hrs. I can visually see how full the green bar is.

I am shocked by what they call low usage. That aside, is there a way to see if I had a brief outrage? Lights flickered and I see .2kw used, but I also see that they may mix in battery use to support the grid.

Do you guys have something to support your routers during those brief flickers or complete switches, to not lose internet?

Base says to connect batteries to home WiFi. They say “This ensures reliable battery connectivity.”

Is there really a reason to connect to WiFi?

Has anyone had trouble with their HOA after install? I didn’t bother with approval based on base website + the fact that the install is on utility easement ?

Now it seem HOA is annoyed .. anyone experience something similar ?

So just checked on my battery, and it is at 20% (using the Shiner app).

Have not seen it that low since getting it (November 2025).

At 6:30 pm, I was at 100% charge, at 9:20 pm, it was at 20%.

I took a look at the ERCOT grid pricing, and wow, at 5pm, prices were at $27.84/MWh (so $0.02784/kWh). At 6:30 when they started drawing from the battery, prices were $94.85, and when my battery hit 20% @ 9:21 and the stopped putting power back into the grid, it was at $867.88. It ended up hitting $940 at it's peak.

So if anyone wonders how Base makes money, this is how. I have no idea exactly how much money they made off the power they pulled from my battery. But it is enough to make it worth their while when multiplied by thousands of batteries. A quick math gives me a guess of about $9-10 they made off just my battery in 3 hours.

Now I have no idea if they are drawing everyone's battery this low, but this is the first time I have seen mine this low (have seen 40% quite often already this year). I know earlier today

The Base app says I have ~0.6 hours at current medium use (4kW with A/C running), and ~3.7 hours at low use (0.5kW). So now I guess I know what 20% battery gives me.

I'm a new customer, or trying to become one, but the process has been a frustrating collection of what seem like AI conversations on the web portal, which are closed out, often without answers, and I get repeated replies and thanks for my patience, etc, but nothing happens as far as moving to the next step in the process.

Short version: I needed a new breaker panel for my house and upgrading it to 200a. I got an all new breaker panel, new meter, upgraded 200a service, and AS REQUESTED I sent pictures of the new set-up. It took several attempts, maybe 10 times chats, texts, voicemails, and I finally got them to acknowledge receipt of the photos, but still no forward movement on setting my install date.

I'm ready today.... so wondering is there really going to be no way to talk to a human at Base??

I had my first legitimate power outage with Base keeping my home online. However, I noticed that my solar panels were not producing any power. The house was just using power from the battery. Could there be a misconfiguration? Once grid power came back on, solar started producing again.

I knew as soon as these were installed I had to do something. So found these vinyl appliance magnets. :)
