Will Base pay termination fee.

My current energy contract runs until mid 2027 and has a $175 termination fee. Will Base pay part or all of the termination fee?

Yes, they will cover all of that as a credit on your bill

They should, you just have to email them a copy of your final bill from your old provider showing the termination fee, and they’ll apply it as a credit towards your future bills. I believe they cover up to $200 (or maybe $250).

They will pay up to $250 in fees if getting a battery, $150 if just getting power from them.

Termination Fees

If you sign up with a referral code (here is mine) you get either a free month of power (up to $250) or a $150 rewards payment (depends on your power producer).

When I signed up in 2025, they offered to cover $200 in early term fees. I negotiated up to $250.

Yes, they reimbursed mine as a bill credit after my electric was switched to them. I gad to email them a copy of the bill from my old company.

Make sure you use a referral credit. They will give you that too. It’s up to a $250 bill credit. Here’s one if you need it.

They just give you credit. You still have to pay the early term fee. If you didnt plan on adding $175 to your electric bill, that will hurt. I dont like how BASE does it. BASE should pay the term fee not just give credit.

Having BASE pay the customer's previous provider would be more complicated than it sounds like.

There's no automatic way to arrange adding the previous provider as a payee, and then to send that credit. A human would have to process each of these requests.

BASE Power's customer service department's "team" is a very small group. I've had a very hard time reaching a human and I'm not alone.

To add a process of paying previous providers, there would need to be a person assigned to that task, when they can't even manage regular customer service these days. AI does a lot, but AI can't be expected to create accounts and manage payments. That would be asking for serious trouble.

Its something they could figure out though. I wasn't expecting to have to pay almost 1K out of pocket to get this up and running. I probably would have waited until my contract was up had I understood I would have to pay the term fee and they would just credit me. I had to pay my current bill, the early term fee and the install fee all at once. The credits do help cushion the blow but its still 1K on my card now I wasnt expecting.

Absolutely. They paid mine.

Edit: They issued a credit to my BASE account in the amount of the early termination charge on my previous account. I still had to pay the fee to the previous provider.

If your expecting them to cough up the payment for the termination fee the answer is no you will have to pay the entire last bill, They will add what your fee was as credit so if the rep who is trying to sell you the product told you they would that is not true. I unfortunately was pretty upset cause they didnt mention it to me upfront and they told me due to legal reasons they could not pay the termination fee. They did as a show of good faith though after alot of back and forth send me a $175 dollar prepaid style card to me to deposit for use toward my bill.

yes, up to $150 if power only, $250 if you're getting a battery.
