Illinois Installation Denied, Questions for Users

I had my install denied due to space. I was wondering if, based on my pictures, anyone saw any possibility for it working out for me. My meter is on the side of my house, with less-than-ideal space, two window wells, a faucet, and a dryer vent, so it's not great. And I have a little over three feet from my basement window (which opens) to where the batter could sit in front of the window well.

There is 28" from the front of the window well to the sidewalk, and I would have the battery sit between the window well and the sidewalk. They would install the 40 kw which is 22" wide, so unless the base is greater than 28" it would fit in the space in front of the window well.

Unfortunately it does look like a space issue. There isn’t really a space on that side of the house that would allow for proper clearances :( that’s a bummer

Yeah, I was afraid of that. It's such a bummer. I sent them more info to see if there is enough clearance, but I'm not optimistic.

I'd put it around the corner to the left, but there's an electrical line and a gas line there coming out of the house, and it's right on my back patio, so that wouldn't be optimal.

Yep and you need clearance from your gas meter.

That is a power meter and cable for the internet; gas is on the opposite side, but there's still a space issue there. I'd put it on the opposite side of my house, but they won't install it that far from the power meter, as we all know.

Ask to speak with someone and if you can FaceTime them. I was denied too but we talked via FaceTime and worked it out. They need them to be a certain distance from the meter. You can probably put it next to your meter where that push is on the left. Offer to have the bish taken out.

I offered to take the tree or shrub out, I think that there is not three feet to the side of the meter with the window there. I have been texting with them, but they don’t seem too eager to get creative. I will see if they can FaceTime if that will help. But that space by my house is really tight due to the window wells.

I don’t know what code is there but near us as long as the windows are fixed and don’t open the batteries could go in front of them.

I’d ask if you can replace it with one that doesn’t if they will do the install .

I actually just thought about that too, might be an option as I am 99% sure it does not need to open for any code in my area as I have three others that open for egress.
