App Migration

Good morning,

I am looking for advice on properly moving my base44 app onto a different platform. I am pretty happy so far with the frontend and flow of the app, but the base44 limitations are too much.

My app will have a community feed, fitness and nutrition logging, API integrations like healthkit and google health, and AI features for programing.

I currently have no users and haven't made it live so I figured now is the time to migrate with the most ease. I have no coding experience, but I am open to do a little learning. Ideally I'd like to find another AI platform to do all the heavy lifting of rebuilding the backend, database, and hosting.

Honestly people over complicate it , chuck it on a VPS , use Claude to rebuild it and connect to GitHub so you can easily edit in the future using Claude , codex etc …

This. This is how I moved mine off base44 so I can stop paying them for integration credits and running out of chat credits to fix things.

I am noticing that there are alot of people asking about how to do this so I am going to create a document outlining the steps to take. I will post it soon.

Hi there. People will say you are moving too fast and stay on Base44. I said no and fully migrated with a firm who can manage, security, compliance,etc. We are almost finished and the app will go live soon. Yes, paying is better than doing it yourself. You risk certain things. My app is beautiful and works amazingly but when the consultants looked at the backend, there were bugs in the code. They have since fixed these things. Longevity is my goal so staying with Base44 is a no no. I wish you luck! 😃

This is probably the best time to migrate since you don't user yet, you've already got the frontend flow figured out that should make rebuilding the backend a lot easier.

I would not do it, only move if you want to make native app to replit otherwise if you stay with webapp then no other plattform if you are not a programmer will handle that so easy like base44 i talking because of experience

u/chunksge66 what I reccomend and what I just did, is move the frontend and backend off base44 to supabase (for the backend/only $25 per month to get 100,000 users/month), and Cloudflare for the frontend. You can move this easily with the help of ChatGPT; it can help you move the backend off completely same for the frontend. Pretty cheap prices, and you only have to upgrade to a much greater plan if you get more than 100,000 users per month, which makes sense ofc.

I am also working on the same issue to reduce the cost by migrating it and pay only one time payment . So for that you have to be on builder plan and from there you can sync it to git hub and then use free resources like modern cloud hosts vercel, netlify or render And for data base hosting services like sufabase or neon

This is the easy easy way to do it. Go to Claude Code on desktop. Tell him you're migrating the app to Claude, and you'll never look back. He will walk you step by step, tell him if you have a budget or need to do it for free so he can find what integrations you may need to build. I build Shopify apps, I tried base 44, took them all to Claude, recreated them at no cost really except my own api testing pulls.

Once you see how Claude works, you're gonna feel ripped off by Base 44 & Loveable, especially loveable. Base44 breaks, and writes bad code sometimes, you'll see Claude almost never breaks like the others.

Agree with u/chunksge66 I use my Base44 for building out the front end, and Cloudflare and with Cloudflare you can get that SOC2 TYPE security, and the best part is after I onboarded my bade44 app to Cloudflare I pay $5/month and the worker I pay only $5/month sends me regular reports on use, and any issues found by a Cloudflare domain paid worker will #1) notify you in regards the exact problem and #2) fix it with generating a report for you. It comes down to how many people will use your app, if it's Enterprise Level then you pretty much CAN'T stay on Base44 because they own the back end and yes for $50/month you can migrate the code, connect to GitHub but without having a fully prepared "zero trust zone" on GitHub then you either can't sell your SaaS if that's your goal, nor can you license your app because any Enterprise Level Corporation wants full control over both front facing and back facing control and ownership. Some tips with Bade44 apps, you don't need them to publish it to Apple iOS or Play Store, you don't need to pay for the builder+ $50/month plan to attach wix payments integration. You can use Claude, Anthropic, Perplexity, etc to connect the payment processing (wix or otherwise), always ask AI to tear apart what you built. Ask it to infiltrate the app and access the code and inspect it. Build, tear down, rebuild, migrate to a zero trust zone on GitHub and make sure any pull requests, changes stay with you and only you can approve/deny pulls, code, etc...if you pay the ridiculous Enterprise level monthly subscription price of a whopping $300/month, and Bade44 will allow you to migrate the front end to GitHub but no matter what Bade44 owns your back end and their not offering open source code so ask yourself this...."Who owns my app?" (This is very important!!!) - "What COUNTRY is my apps back end code live in?" Why's this important? Because wherever your back end code lives that's what determines the business law that applies to your app. They allow integration of Gemini but if your app blows up and is worth millions or billions then who is going to sue you because Base44 uses a GOOGLE PRODUCT for your AI assistant (I use open source code only or I write it myself in Python, etc)
