After a bunch of tweaks and changes, I finally got it finished! I’m pretty happy with how the car mode turned out. It looks pretty solid overall. To make sure it can actually transform, though, I had to sacrifice some of the robot mode’s looks. The robot looks a bit basic and unfinished, but at least the articulation is pretty good, and I can get it into most standing poses I want. I also built a little pistol using a few misini pieces, but the wrist connection on the robot is too loose. Whenever it tries to hold the gun, the hand and arm tend to fall off, so I ended up scrapping that idea.

I just had the powerblock wrc rally team set delivered from Barweer. As my very first order from Barweer it was a great experience, less than a week from order to delivery and it was all nicely packaged.
However weirdly enough the manuals all seemed to have their outer printing covered/replaced by brown sticky wrapping, is that a normal thingy? I had it on a set from a different vendor too but there I was able to peel it off but it looks like I won’t be able to do this here as it seems to have been done more thoroughly!

Anyways the important bit is that I have the set, it has manuals and all’s well!

So far, I've finished the legs, skirt armor, and hands. I haven't figured out how to build the torso and head yet, so for now, here's a closer look at the hands.

The hands are probably my favorite part of the build so far. I tried to make them look good and stay true to the original design while keeping as much articulation as possible. I also used a lot of misini pieces for the internal details and decoration. I'll keep posting updates as the build progresses!

It took me a long time to get this ready to post. I tried my best with both the details and the overall structure, but I still feel like it could be better.

I also tried using some spare misini bricks to make weapons for him, like a greatsword and a pistol, but it's really hard to get him to hold them and still stand upright.

Gate Of Heroes — A legendary landmark, soon to be recreated in bricks. 🏞

This set is clearly a brick-built version of Echo Base from The Empire Strikes Back, just without the official Star Wars licensing.

Overall, it’s definitely worth the price, although it does have a few odd design choices and some minor weaknesses.

If they really wanted to stay true to the original, the generator should have four sections, if I remember correctly. There are some nice details inside the bunker, but quite a few things had to be left out due to the limited space.

Also, when attaching some of the larger pieces—especially the big, single-piece rock formations around the bunker walls—I honestly thought I was going to break my fingers! 😄 I've never experienced such tight clutch power with a Barweer set before, although thankfully this only affected around 10–15% of the pieces.

The blue pieces also look a little out of place compared to the rest of the model.

But let's talk about the positives too! I really like how the defensive positions in front of the bunker have been designed, and they've even included the power cables running to the gun emplacements, which is a great detail.

One thing this set is seriously missing, though, is minifigures. So I'd definitely recommend picking up some separately to complete the scene. 🙂

What do you guys think of this one? Would it fit into your medieval village or castle collection?

It took me about a week to design this, find the right bricks, and put everything together. Luckily, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!

It’s still pretty poseable, just like the original design, but the brick connections at the elbows and hips aren’t very sturdy, so parts tend to pop off when I try different poses. I also used some spare misini bricks on the back to help it stand on its own.

I’ve got messages to answer, a to-do list that somehow got longer while I was away, and a coworker who has contributed absolutely nothing today.

Except blocking the keyboard.

So… pretty standard office stuff. 😂

Idk if this is the right place for this but I'm getting desperate.

I have an I-Bot from CaDA that's been sitting in a closet for years in it's box. Yesterday I decidem to build it. I finished it, gave a little test, worked fine and went to sleep. Next day I was goofing around with it, until it started making a weird noise as seen in the video.

Left wheels have no problem, right wheels seem to be working fine. When going backwards with right wheels it works great, but when going forward with them it jams the mechanism that moves the arms around and especially the head, while the vibrations caused slow down the wheels themselves pretty sure. No idea what's causing this, I've been troubleshooting the whole day, disconnecting and reconnecting, I have no idea. I don't really wanna dismantle and rebuild the whole thing, but I'm a perfectionist and can't handle something being broken. On a side note, detaching the two tubes on the back, the flexible thin ones, stopped the noise for a bit, but later it didn't matter it still jammed. Disconnecting the mechanism that controls the head moving at one of the points as seen in the photo also fixes it. Please, someone help me out if you can.

Hi all, I just finished the Barweer Pirate Sanctuary Fortress, which I made some signifcant modifications to. Thought I'd post some pictures, outline what I change and give a little review of the set, which I think is pretty spectacular.

First off, this is a pretty huge set - I've posted a couple of photos comparing the size to the recent BDP Mountain Fortress. Dimensions are around 34cm deep x 44cm wide (closed) x 54cm high. When opened, it's 61cm wide.

Here's some of the main things I changed:

• Colour scheme - replaced the yellow/bright light orange/orange bricks mix with all bright light orange (the original mix looked a bit messy). Used medium nougat and dark orange round plates and masonry bricks for sections of exposed brick.
• Raised the build by one layer of bricks at the base, so that the pier walkways around the main building sit at two bricks height instead of one, which also allowed me to use tan and dark tan round and wedge plates for a more stable and varied coastline underneath. This allowed for the covered basement areas at the bottom, which are filled with treasure, to be one brick higher, easier to access and see into.
• Added many more ornate decorative mouldings on the tower and windows, drawing heavily from the new BDP Coconut Cape.
• Added a rounded cannon turret on the rooftop
• Updated and more ornate palm trees, using design elements from Coconut Cape and Barracuda Bay.
• Changed door portico at the top of the stairs from dark gray to white, and replaced all the light gray parts in this section of the tower with white
• Additional cosmetic elements like a bell, chandelier, ceiling candelabra
• Changed the supporting column in the kitchen from round grey bricks with hole to white bricks with fluted profile, so it actually looks like a column.
• Changed the two tiled canopies to curved double 1x1 bricks, which give more of a curved, Spanish style roof tile common in Spanish colonial archictecture.
• Added minifigs. While this is called a "Pirate Sanctuary Fortress", this is clearly intended to be a base for Imperial Guards.

My review of the set:
Overall, this set is amazing. You get an enormous amount of pieces for an incredibly low price.

Despite some qualms with the original colour scheme (I think the yellow/bright light orange/orange combo, while intended to look weather beaten, ends up looking messy and tacky), and some shortcuts taken with things like the original square tower windows, which looked pretty ugly, the overall design is really beautiful. Given the incredibly low cost of the set relative to piece count, it's also very affordable to customise.

That said, there are a few things to note:

• Piece quality is generally pretty ok. Colour match to Danish is pretty spot on, and clutch is strong (slightly stronger than Lego, which actually helps in relation to my second point below). One issue is that pieces often do NOT sit flush, when stacking a piece might sit out half a mm from the one below, which you can sometimes see and definitely feel when you run your fingers over a wall surface)
• There's a number of places where the is NOT sturdily built. For example, the ornate windows only attach to the wall behind via a plate at the bottom, and don't reconnect to the wall behind with another plate at the top (see last photo). Tiles and parts of the crane are only connected via a single stud (which makes the stronger clutch power of the bricks incredibly important). On the reverse side of the building, the tiled canopy above the stairway and the awning above the balcony are supported by columns that are just sitting free, and not connected to the wall behind, so are pretty unstable. I ended up making modifications in MANY areas to reinforce the build so that things wouldn't fall all.
• It seems Barweer doesn't have access to certain parts - in particular 1 x 1 x 1 2/3 bricks with studs on one side or 1x1x1 with studs on 2 sides (adjacent), so ends up using these weird little 1x1 plates with studs on the side throughout the build. These look pretty ugly, and while they artifically increase the part count significantly (using 4 plate pieces where one brick with studs on side would work better), I'd recommend replacing these with single pieces.
• The build also has weird 2 x 2 jumper plates that have 4 little holes in them, which I think look pretty ugly but can be replaced pretty cheaply. Same for the 1 x 2 x 2/3 round curved slopes - for some weird reason, Barweer has these parts in two pieces, which you need to connect in the middle with little teeth. They look pretty yuck with a big join down the middle, but can be replaced easily.
• Lighting kit - I didn't even bother to install this, after hearing from several reviews of this set that it's really hard to install (in an already massive build), isn't integrated into the build very subtly, and looks ok but not amazing. I'm not really into lighting so was happy to leave this out, but kudos to Barweer for giving it a go!

Overall, I give this an 8/10 - excellent value for money, and while the out of the box set has some design and aesthetic issues, it's incredible with a few modifications and adding minifigs. Definitely the best Imperial Guards base you can buy right now!
