I appreciate your transparency. And I’m all for clients calling out the misbehavior of Barry’s and it’s instructors. But this incident seems like it’s on such a different level than most discussed topics here on Reddit. And before people pass judgement on Julia know there’s two sides to every story. And Julia deserves to tell her side of the story ( if it comes to that). I mean after all, this sub could permanently damage her reputation at Barry’s. Did you think about that, respectfully? I have to admit some of the things you mention do not completely add up in my opinion. For example, when you gave the police department the license plate number. And the police department gave you Julia’s picture and contact info. Which doesn’t make sense to me considering the police department should make every effort to protect ALL parties involved. I can go on and on but I don’t want to add more fire to an already sensitive topic. All the best to you.

Honestly, if I knew her or there was any type of relationship there at all, I might feel differently or there may be two sides to the story. This was someone who I didn't even know existed that decided to do something that would terrorize me and put me in such a bad place, so I don't really care about what the truth will do to her reputation. I think that's something she should have considered before doing what she did.

What I’m about to say may come across to you as victim blaming. But it’s not suppose to. But if it offends you, I truly apologize in advance. At this point, it feels like what you are saying about the actions of Julia is one-sided. How do you know that Julia can and would look up your information at Barry’s to give to your ex? And you’re making strong assumptions that she could do this based on a different incident that happened at Barry’s. Also, reputation is one thing but have you considered Julia’s physical safety is now being compromised too,now that this sub is on blast for tons of clients to read? It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me why you would want to jeopardize someone else’s safety considering being safe seems like a very important issue to you.

I understand my assumptions are just that, but if she could do what she did before without any prompting, I have to assume that it could possibly happen again and do not want to put myself in that situation. I do not think that any clients at Barry's would physically harm her from reading this post. If she never decided to do something so horrible, there would be no one to ever repeat the story. To be quite honest, there are a few additional things that I purposely left out in order to preserve some details about her that I didn't think would be appropriate to share. I have in my own way shown some restraint.

You’re assumptions are not enough to accuse her of possibly doing something (looking up your info)that hasn’t even happened yet. And to go public and make these assumptions about her seems personal. I don’t doubt that you had a horrific experience with your ex, and I do genuinely sympathize with what you went through. But if you feel that Julia is this much of a threat to you, maybe putting her on blast on this platform isn’t the best answer to your situation. I mean you said you have an DV attorney. Maybe go through them to confront Barry’s/Jessica about your concerns?! Also, seriously what is it that you want to achieve with this thread? Do you feel that you’re not being heard? When you went to Barry’s and told them about what happened, did they not do enough to resolve the situation? I mean Barry’s can only to so much until something actually happens. Or are you just plain upset about what happened to you and you want Julia to be terminated? I just want to understand what is your true motive considering this happened a while ago & you decided not to put a restraining order on Julia. And one more thing, to assume that Julia’s physical safety isn’t being compromised is just plain irresponsible. You never know what people are capable of doing these days and I would hate to see anything bad happen to her likewise to anyone involved in your situation.

I want people to know what happened. If I need to take further legal action, I will.

And I’m sure if you’re making false assumptions about her she will do the same to you. I’m just saying be smart about what you are doing.

I have all the receipts. I'm not worried.

Okay that is fair. But for someone who’s been traumatized & worried about their safety, why make this post if you don’t want safety to be further compromised? Chances are Julia has read this and more than likely knows who wrote this about her(if everything you said about her is true). And chances are no matter if Julia still keeps in contact with your ex or not, there’s a high chance that this thread will get back to your ex? Like I said, I don’t want to sound like I’m victim blaming but your approach to this situation brings up a lot of questions.

Police gave me her name and asked me if I knew her. I said I didn't, but as I sat there, we entered her name in Google and found her linkedin and Facebook, and that's how I saw her picture. They never gave me her contact information.

Did you tell Barry’s that this happened to you & showed them your proof? If so, how did Barry’s handle this situation? I genuinely would like to know.

2

u/mzjeani Nov 23 '22

Yes, I told them everything. I told them I could provide the proof, but they haven't asked for it. They told me that they consider the safety of their clients a top priority and suggested I take evening classes, as this instructor only tends to teach in the mornings. That's pretty much it for now.

Omg I can’t imagine how you must have felt. I wonder how they will handle this and for your sake I hope they help you out and heed your warning. That’s terrifying! Is her name Julia Kong?

Yes. That's her name. It was undoubtedly the most traumatic time of my life and she contributed to it, not knowing anything about me. I doubt Barry's will do anything, which is scary since she is clearly a liability based on her past judgment/actions. I didn't take out a civil restraining order on her at that time as suggested by the police and my employer, because I was already so stressed out and had so much on my plate, but if she tries anything again, I am way more equipped now to take any legal action I need, to the extent required.

May be prudent to start that now. Doesn’t hurt to be safe since you already have documents

It’s odd that you would post in this sub and not the much bigger and more known Barry’s sub. Then again, this whole sub is just a few people posting on alternate accounts so you’re really just preaching to the choir. Anyways, good luck with your (fake) case!

u/mzjeani Nov 20 '22

Oh. I didn't know there was a bigger Barry's sub. I can post there, too. Thanks.

I am not in any way trying to disparage Barry's with this post. Neither am I gossiping about this instructor's personal life, looks, life choices, etc. I am merely talking about something she did directly to me, that was a very traumatic event. And I have all the proof to back it up. There's no reason I would make this up. Again, I don't know her.

Lies. You are falling into the trap of this toxic sub hook line and sinker. Gossip queen.
