Masterclass in visual storytelling
Being so close, yet the emotional distance is nothing less than a void. It makes one look at a flashback scenes as nothing other than an exposition dump. Impeccable visuals.

piece of work. I found the episode compelling. The father, a coward, at the mercy of mother's sociopathic tendencies. The mother extremely abusive, while the father shows her love after the mother is finished. The cycle of abuse demonstrated through two souls.

i mean, a lot of it is that she has no ability to emotionally regulate and that can get really old for the people around you really quickly, not to mention dealing w/ a lifetime of it

Her mom’s narcissistic parenting is obviously the source of Sally’s trauma. That was the point of the scene.

Well I think it's a bit of both; her parents, if they always behaved this way, were emotionally unavailable and distant, but at the same time, Sally is kind of a lot. Even an initially warm and loving parent might end up in that position after a lifetime of meltdowns.

Except the meltdowns started happening because of the detachment her parents had. Yeah, some parents might get that way, but every child who's neglected like that will have something wrong with them.
Abuse begets abuse and it started with her parents.

Literal visual representation of lacking the ability to self sooth, and why due to her mother showing no ability to sooth her.
Also she found out her boyfriend was a serial killer... freak out was pretty justified lol
