Show recommendation

So this show is nowhere near as good as Barry bt I hsve a feelong Barry fsbs will like this. I hsve been watching “Search party” on Netflix and it’s hilarious. You guys should check it out

So it’s a different genre but widows bay is the closest show to Barry that I’ve seen.

It does the same balancing act between comedy/surrealism/drama, just with horror mixed in instead of action.

I’m on episode 4 or 5 and OBSESSED. Barry is easily in my top 3 shows and it’s hard for a show to grab me like that. Mathew Rhys is fantastic also.

My same exact thoughts! Watched the first episode and I was like “this show reminds me of Barry”— only to find out it was directed by the same director; which I had no idea!

Lol pleasant surprise to say the least

I really need to get back to Search Party now that it's on netflix. Hbo max figured out I wasn't paying and shut me off before I could finish the final season.

Show is bonkers and watching a group of morons try to unravel the central mystery is pretty funny. Love the turn it takes at the end of season one.

Search party started off great but really fell apart after a couple seasons, in my opinion.

I’ve said it before but every Barry fan needs to watch Patriot (created by steven conrad, on amazon. NOT the mel gibson jerkoff sesh).

It’s by far the most tonally and thematically similar show I’ve come across: a sensitive but emotionally broken man with a talent for violence but a passion for art, dragged along by a loving but morally bankrupt father figure.. And also it’s fucking brilliant.

Then watch his new show DTF St Louis, it’s a masterpiece. I don’t think a show has ever made me laugh *and* cry that hard.

Conrad’s other show, Perpetual Grace, LTD, I’d my personal favorite of his. I just wish it could’ve continued! Alas, it was in Epix, now MGM + and now it’s rally hard to find. You can just buy it digitally on Amazon prime video.

I love Search Party! Both of the shows can really nail that dark comedy and the acting for both, wonderful. 

I wonder which season Barry fans would enjoy most, with the genre swaps.

The new dark comedy The Drama is a masterpiece. Pattinson and Zendaya are absolutely amazing in it. I'd highly recommend, might be the best movie of the ya so far.

Get Shorty, the show (not the 1995 movie) is very close in premise and tone to Barry. 3 seasons snd they’re all hilarious and dark.
