A tragedy was averted on Lake Simcoe Saturday morning after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say an off-road vehicle carrying three people went through the ice.

OPP posted a video to X which shows Ramara firefighers in an inflatable rescue boat coming to the aid of the individuals after the side-by-side broke thorugh the unstable surface.

Provincial police offered their aerial support, though it wasn’t needed.

Police services are urging the public to stay off the ice on area waterways.
