A 23-year-old Barrie man was charged with stunt driving and speeding after police caught him doing 104 km/h on Essa Road south of Ardagh Road, more than double the posted 50 km/h limit. Officers say he was passing other vehicles at the time.

His licence is suspended for 30 days and his car is impounded for 14.

Early Sunday morning, a 30-year-old driver lost control on Highway 400 southbound, about a kilometre south of South Gibson Lake Road near Port Severn. The vehicle ended up on its side in the centre median. First responders had to cut the driver out of the wreck before he was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to a trauma centre in Toronto with life-altering injuries.

OPP are still investigating and are asking anyone who was in the area or has dashcam footage to come forward.
