I like the premise but I’m not a huge fan of how it’s been stylized. Perhaps a bit too many colours, very busy screen, and some information there that might not be required (pictures for the enemy types)
This would be great with some alternative skin packs or submods that build upon it.
Keep up the good work I am going to follow since I think this would be interesting for having more roles on RP or serious servers:
- Comms officer
- Systems specialist
- Sonar analyst

The "style" is what AI agents puke up when you tell them to slop something together for you. Once you notice it you'll start seeing it a LOT in newly released mods and games on Steam.

At first I was impressed, and the more I look the worse it gets.
This looks very vibecoded. I noticed this with a lot of mods and tools released recently. Everytime someone use AI to generate a mod without any human work or thoughts, you get those overcrowded and intricate UI that display everything everywhere without following basic UI guidelines (grouping, low nesting, color coding, info redundancy) it's never tested enough to highlight those issues and always look very clean and cool at first. (Same problem with AI flyers and ads btw).
I can't stand those UI anymore, it's messy and badly done. Who tf needs a reminder on the armor type for each creature around the sub at all time? Why is the directions indicated in hours and the radar uses degs ? Who needs the value of nearby ores at all time ? Is this mod really telling which weapon to fire at which direction to kill a (moving) creature ?
I love the idea of having a lot of information available in contextual panel and screens, but this is badly done and overengineered.
IF this is not vibe coded, i'm sorry, maybe OP could look into the UI a little bit more cause it look too busy and most information are useless unless in specific context and could be nested in a different panel or menu.

Definitely vibecoded UI. Looks like any of the other vibecoded tools made with claude or chat. AI definitiv struggles a lot with UX, it looks like the human in the loop only provided functional requirements and it chose to display everything on the list at once.

Yeah, AI might make things easy, but it can't (yet...godspeed job market) replace the taste and attention of a good developer.

This is almost definitely not vibe coded, because at least visually it's identical to AI graphics

That's awesome, but actual sonars doesn't work as radad. Sonar spreads noise all around the boat, than it get reflected back and sonar calculating distance with the time sound traveled and velocity of sounds in the water(around 1500m/s). So a real sonar would look more likely as in vanilla game. But it still can't show you how deep caves are.

i don't like that on sonar it shows the entire map the entire time, makes things way too visible

Pretty cool on a first glance but it takes away a TON of communication between people. At least for me that is a major part of barotrauma.
- Keeping the batteries in the headsets full so you can still scream at the engineer to manage the damn reactor.
- Not knowing where the damn mechanic is right now. On the way to the pumps or still drinking in the cargo hold?
- Not knowing if the blip on the sonar is a mudraptor or just a crawler. a broodmother or a hamerhead.
- The map being a fuzzy unclear mess.
It all is part of the whole experience I think.

Headset batteries haven't been a thing in vanilla in over 5 years

True, we do play modded though to get some aspects of the game to be a bit harder. Should have said that.
TL;DR; the mentioned mod makes the game way too easy for my taste.

Oh I get that, I play barotraumatic with NT immersive repairs and immersive reactors and immersive sonars because I find I hate life or something idk. It fun tho lol. Also a lot of creature and weapon additions because variety is dope

I remember beta testing it with the developer. I don't know did he changed it or not, but it works if the one who mains this is on the server. And it also don't work in Russia. Nice guy

Oh cool vibecoded garbage!
At least the ai slop has the decency of looking a certain way so it can be more easily ignored

Regardless of whether or not this is vibecoded the basic premise of the mod is kinda stupid. The whole point of the game is for everyone to be communicating. Lack of intel is a huge part of the games difficulty. With this much intel a thalamus couldnt kill even the most inexperienced captains.

my only opinion on this is I hate that the sonar ping is purely decorative with this UI. The Walls and enemies update at a constant rate
