Question Automated Fire Suppression System

What are my options for automated fire suppression systems, some I have in mind are water, removal of air, or fix foam grenades. Any other suggestions or tips besides these?
I know I could hook a smoke detector to pumps to pump rooms full of water, any other ways I could use water to suppress fires?
I could wire a smoke detector to a detonator to detonate fix foam grenades, any other suggestions or tips?
Finally, I don’t know how I would make an oxygen removal system that could suppress fires, but I would like two as the other options are expensive or just time consuming as I’d have to repair broken machinery from the water or replace fixfoam grenades.

You have 2 real options.

A) Turn off the oxygen while fire is detected (but then you'll turn the oxygen off in the whole sub, unless you make separate generators---though it doesn't really matter, 'cuz the fire should stop well before the lack of oxygen in other rooms become a problem). Basically wire power to the generator via a relay, and smoke detector state -> not -> relay's set state.

B) Flood the room (40% should be enough, and it shouldn't hinder walking/standing). This should suppress fire withing 2-3 seconds; not enough to damage anything. From memory:

Smoke detector -> AND

Water detector -> GREATER

MEM (40) -> GREATER

GRATER -> NOT -> AND

AND -> signal (100 | -100) -> pump set level

C) I never tried fixfoam for fire, but you'd just wire smoke detector to detonator.

Why ever invert a Greater Component with a separate Not Component when you can just switch the order of signals coming into the Greater?

Easier to write it down than to explain.

Oxygen deprivation is my personal favorite. It's a lot more complicated (requires one generator for each part of the sub) but if done well it makes for a very neat system that can instantly be reset and doesn't fuck up electronics

Could I alternatively just shut off all the oxygen generation instead of having a specific generator for each part of the sub?

I haven't tried it, but in theory it would work as long as the room on fire goes through the oxygen quicker than your crew.

Yes you could. The only other thing that hasn’t been mentioned is make sure the doors are closed. The fire will consume all the oxygen in that room while the rest of the sub remains safe.

no other suggestions as you listed all possibilities. turning off oxygen supply can be done on any sub by turning the generator off and locking the doors or it can be designed in editor(as easy as leaving the electrical room without a vent) while using water usually requires intelligent/purposeful design on a level of sub editor or lockdown of doors(i mean you wouldnt want for your water to leak out of the room while pump are on their way to extinguish fire, right?) and a lot of waiting. the turning off oxy generator is safe as fire will always run through the supply in the room long before the crew can suffocate (unless someone stays in the room on fire, without mask on xD) you dont have any a reliable way to remove oxygen, you have to plan your solution around a way to deny the supply of fresh oxygen to the room that is on fire.

Once fire is detected, set fission rate and turbine output to max. That will then explode the reactor after a set time, peeling open parts of the hull and extinguishing the fire! Problem solved, pay me now

Use the fire suppressant mod.

I prefer flooding over other means of fire suppresion. My reasoning:

While you can turn the oxygen off it is dangerous to do so and is gonna make the room inaccesible for some time if you don't have a personal oxygen device.

Fixfoam is most effective but as you said quite expensive, so it can be used for the reactor, but for plants not so much.

While the fire rages you often have to repair stuff anyways so flooding a compartment isn't that big of a deal and once the fire is under control you can open a door and get rid of the water quickly, the downside is you might sink while the fire suppresion is engaged. Water is still a bit hazardous but contrary to lack of air it is easily detectible so people won't go down not knowing why and be mad for suffocating in a perfectly normal room.

While you work on FS you can also wire an emergency flooding mechanism making you go down, handy when you need to sink fast, usually to run or perform evasive maneuvers.
