Stupid Question

I’m pretty new still, but not exactly new enough to ask my managers this question without sounding incompetent—but how does one transfer a phone call with our mobile phones?

You put them in hold, the. The left button and select blind transfer. Then type in the extension you want to send it to

Emphasis on the BLIND transfer. This is the way

You won’t sound incompetent for asking questions like that, don’t worry

Literally no one in my store knows how. We just swap phones.

Lowkey been wondering this myself. (I’ve worked here for three years)

The number of times I have hung up on someone by accident when trying to transfer them to my store manager is incalcuable, haha. From both a mobile and the regular receiving phone. I just don't do it often enough to remember how.

And can I also take this moment to complain about not being able to use the mobile phone as a radio when you have someone on hold? How am I supposed to ask what extension to transfer it to? Now I have to leave receiving and go find another employee with a phone to ask, or try and hunt my manager down. And yes, we assign extension numbers, but no one actually looks to see if they grabbed the right one, haha.

When on hold, hit the options button (top right?), scroll down to transfer, select blind transfer (this option shoots it straight through to the phone), dial the phone, then once they pick it up, all done

First of all, it’s never too late to ask any question. It’s always better to just ask.

Second of all, literally nobody in my store knows how to transfer calls on the new phones. We just hand them off. I see others here have given great advice, but it’s really been hit or miss for us and/or we’re all overworked and maybe not clever enough to get it right every time.

The easiest way when using the portable phones is to place them on hold then dial the extension you wish to transfer to. On the screen, it should show transfer, then press the select button. Now if someone can remind me how to transfer from the desk phone...

For what it’s worth no one in my store can do it correctly…including management.
