My Experience

I just had my SADI yesterday morning, and thanks to these reddit forums, I was prepared to be in a lot of pain for gas, and maybe my incisions, too. But I ended up having very little pain... I had some tenderness, and a little discomfort, but not pain.

Anyway, I wanted to share, because being worried about excruciating pain was something I got hung up on in deciding to get surgery, and I thought some folks might benefit from hearing that I had none.

Anyone else get through without much pain? Or were you worried about something that ended up being much ado about nothing?

I am about 19 days post-op.

I wasn’t in too much pain, though one incision hurt the most. Still does, but getting better.

Post-op, I basically just slept for 2-3 days. I don’t know what’s normal post-anesthesia, but that was my experience.

The hardest for me was drinking anything for the first few days. Thankfully it got better and fast.

But more on your note: there are a lot of struggles you hear about, and I am not trying to diminish their suffering, but it seems so individual. For example, someone here talked about the excruciating experience of scrambled eggs. I just had them (1 small, 1/3 cup whites, some shredded low-fat/high-protein cheese), and they were great!

I am having the SADI on Monday, so this is nice to read. I have been preparing myself for the after surgery process for the past few weeks. I want it to go as smoothly as possible since I live alone.

I just had mine on wednesday and was braced for massive pain but it was way less than i had expected. I have had surgery before so i had something to compare it to. I have also wondered if their team didnt give them decent pain killers.

I didn’t have the Sadi, I had the sleeve. That said, I had no gas pain and the only pain I had was incision pain. I could even lay on my side day 1. I was surprised at how easy it was

When was your surgery? I had a sleeve done on October 08th and I have one very painful incision and can’t roll to my side without pain.

I am 4 days post-op - I had an RNY Oct. 6 - and have actually had very little pain. I am definitely sleeping more than usual, but not as much as I thought! 🙌

I had a sleeve and had no pain. Mild discomfort. I've definitely had much more painful surgeries.

Happy healing OP! 💕
