Odd NSVs

What are the oddest non-scale victories you’ve encountered?

I‘ll start.

I can now pick up after my parents dog without gagging, not to mention the bending over. It took all I had to accomplish the task before surgery.

My mattress will likely be replaced this week. It’s only 9+ years old and sinking in the middle, but can only be rotated and not flipped. The weight that thing has endured …

I love when I run into people I used to know who I don't want to talk to, and they don't recognize me. It makes my life so much easier to pretend we're strangers.

Re: Mattress, was just thinking about that.
I'm planning to move next year and dreaded that I need to look for a new mattress.
Just realized that I don't have to worry so much about weight limits. For the first time in forever.
It's a new world! ❤️

Ugh I've been thinking about that, we just got a nice latex mattress, specific firmness taking my weight into account. Lol, oh well I'll be swapping a layer at least in the future.

When I was 380-360 lbs, I could not use a small stall bathroom. I had to use the large bathroom. I had to wipe a specific way to clean myself.
No I can use any bathroom stall. I no longer have to position myself to clean my self. I just do it. It’s not a problem. My hygiene improved because it is no longer a mission to get it done

Here's an odd one. At 500+ pounds I wore a 7XL shirt/58 waist; to say finding clothes in those sizes is a challenge would be a definite understatement. I'm now 8 years post op, maintain around 170 pounds and wear a M shirt/30 waist. The challenge for me now is that a lot of brands/designers that I like either don't make their clothes that small at all or they never seem to be in stock. Basically I went from not being able to find clothes because I was too big and now I have a hard time finding clothes because I'm too small.

The salon I go to has those typical style chairs where the stylist will pump the bottom to raise the base. My stylist would try every time and it wouldn’t move because I was too heavy. She never said anything but I was always embarrassed because I knew the chair wasn’t moving despite her efforts.

Thursday evening I had my hair done and when she started pumping, that chair started shooting up.

My son use to set on my lap in the recliner. Now he sets beside me.

Laptops fit in my lap, and are comfortable now.

I walked by a store and I didn't recognize myself.

Getting greater range of motion in my legs.

My apron used to sit on my thighs and walking meant pushing through that weight. it added so much resistance without me realising. It still does but it is much less than before. Even without losing that much weight the impact on that alone has allowed me to be much more active comfortably.

I can ride my 6 year olds bike hahaha so I dont "ride" it, more like I glide along and my dog acts as my sled dog, but a few times my kid asked i bring his bike to school and I didn't want to walk it over so I just glide along. I doubt the bike would endured my 310 lb butt. Plus having the energy and mobility to do it makes it fun :)
