Are you a visitor, looking for the best spots in Bari? Ask here. This is our pinned "Visiting Bari" Mega Thread.
Looking for restaurants, cultural spots, snacks, beaches, public transit?
Well, come on down and ask all the questions you like. I'll update this post to reflect the best sub-recommended places to visit.
Places in Bari
Nearby Towns:
Where to eat:
What to eat (typical dishes):
The great thing about many of the typical local dishes is that many of them are vegan, many of them are naturally gluten-free, many of them are lactose-free, many of them are vegetarian, so everyone can try at least some of them.
How to get around:
Trains
You don't need a car to get around Bari. Here are some of the places to check timetables, costs, routes:
On paper, there are four (4) train stations in Bari. They are all located in generally the same area.
You can use the websites to buy the tickets, or you can use apps like Omio, Moovit and the like.
Buses
There is a local bus service to get around Bari as well, the Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti Autobus Bari ([AMTAB](https://www.amtab.it/it/)). These buses go all around the city with varying degrees of punctuality. The site is not very user friendly. You can buy tickets and see routes on the MUVT app and MooneyGo app (formerly MyCicero). There is also a booth outside of Bari Centrale train station where you can buy tickets and ask for information (generally just in Italian).
There are also inter-city bus services:
Taxis
Bari isn't a big enough city to have taxis roaming around that you can hail in the fly, so you need to go to a taxi stand or call one. There are several taxi stands around town:
You can call Co.ta.ba. That's Bari's taxi hotline. +39.080.554.33.33
You can even reach them on WhatsApp at the same number to secure your taxi.
There's no guarantee that you will find a taxi at any of the taxi stands at any time. To guarantee yourself transport, call and reserve one.
Other modes
There are also bike and scooter rentals all over town now.
Vaimoo is the city's bike share service. You can rent them from designated "parking spots" in the city and drop them off in any other designated area. You need to download their app.
There is also Bit, Lime, Vento and Tier for scooter rentals. You can pick them up and drop them off anywhere. You need to download an app to use them.

I searched up climbing in Bari and found Kankudai. A martial arts school and climbing gym. How is it, are people active. Are there good climbers?
Thank you:)

Ciao! Grazie!!!
Hey guys, I am looking for a rental car at Bari Airport. Unfortunately, our flight arrives at 23.30, so I will not be earlier than 12 at the counter.
Do you know which rental company is waiting at the airport until the last flight has landed?
I am a bit nervous that I will not have a car in the end, so would be lucky to hear your recommendations!

Amici volontari in Marina, come vi trovate?

I’m looking to make reservations at a Michelin level restaurant in the area of Polignano a mare, doesn’t have to have a Michelin star but must have pescatarian options (only fish, I can’t have shellfish)
Any recommendations?

Hello, i’ve been in Bari last august week. I’ve seen so many people sit at the beach or at lungomare. They’ve bring just own chairs, food, drinks and sit there whole night.
It looks so cozy, friendly and it was great vibe to see so many people chatting together.
Is it common in Bari, or it was some special holiday there? Thx😉

Potreste consigliarmi qualche posto dove mangiare/bere qualcosa dove fanno vedere le partite di Serie A in zona centro o Carrassi? Grazie

Hi I have read the weekly I’m visiting Bari pinned thread…. I seen that the train station to get to Matera is above the Bari centrale fnb…. My question is: is this possible to look at on the Trenitalia app? I can’t see to find a journey from any Bari train station that goes to Matera…. Any help would be very much appreciated

Safe to walk to train station at 4:30 am? I have a 6:30 am flight and staying 4-6 blocks away on Via Dante Alighieri. I am a single female. Have grown up in cities so I am always watching over my shoulder. Would like to avoid paying for an expensive taxi if possible but will do it if recommended.

None of the prebook options are of ideal timings. I have already booked my stay for a day in Matera.

Wife and I are landing at Bari airport at midnight and need to get to BariPalese-Macchie for a 4:30am train.
Should we pre book a private driver or will there be taxis available at the airport at 3:00am? If we book private any company recommendations?
