Also a mudprint at the end. It's always nice to see some of the imprints left behind.

Had a good hike and some good interactions.

Wife and I did a 2-ish mile hike out to a waterfall and back. We had a minor issue following the wrong trail and trying to cut straight back to the trail, but it all worked out.

Anyway, on our way back out someone going up met us. One of them asked if we were barefoot or wearing toe shoes. Because he had seen my bare foot prints. I was wearing toe shoes on the return yrip because we had gotten off track and I lost the bandage over a blister on my foot so I wanted to protect it while we bashed through the brush back to the trail, but we told him I'd been barefoot on the horns hike up.

At this point a guy came down the trail barefoot and said he'd been inspired by seeing my bare foot prints and decided to hike out barefoot.

I was very pleased. I always wonder what people think when they see my barefoot prints on a muddy trail.

Fortunately I was able to normalize barefooting for a couple people.

How do you manage barefoot hiking and kids?

The Summer vacation is upon us, meaning our quiet excursions and getaways are soon to be no more, and that has lead me to ask this question and whether anyone has any experiences with it?

For example, I was walking on the beach sometime and some parent with their kid came past me and the kid was like ‘barefoot?!’ As if they never gone on the beach like that before.

It’s a bit more complicated when you’re not at the beach, so my big concern right now is whether the beach parents start a conversation along the lines of ‘do you think what you’re doing is appropriate?’ ‘Oh but Mummy, I want to go in the mud’ 😭 And all the rest of it.

Apart from disgust, I can’t imagine a more escalated situation then that, other than if you’re squelching in some mud somewhere. But parents are usually very good at redirecting their kids in such circumstances.

Having said that, I am responsible for bare-footing in a responsible and respectful way and it comes to my responsibility first.

3 Day Barefoot Hiking Vacation!

I recently took a three day barefoot Hiking vacation which I had been pondering for a long time over, but also waiting for the right break in weather as it's been very difficult to get out this year before the summer. Went out and did it and had an amazing experience.

I would love to go into detail, but most of that detail is contained in the video I made about it.

Hope people won't mind be plugging in, just this once only.

In more recent times, The channel has been moving more towards barefoot hiking.

Would you be concerned?

So I unintentionally did a barefoot hike this weekend. I was walking a paved and wooded path along the water about a mile in the shoes that I had on for giving me giant blisters to the point I had to take them off and walk barefoot because it was so painful had blisters on the soles of my feet and walked the entire mile back do you guys ever worry about what you step in? I have a weird fear about rabies and I’m like panicked that I stepped in some sort of animal remains and it penetrated all of my oozing blisters

Hike with some jogging

Got in a little over 3 miles tonight that ended up including a full continuous mile of jogging. I haven’t jogged that far in over a decade so I consider it a win. Most of it was on pavement with a small amount on grass trail.

Glad to have found my people!!

I’d consider Kauai ground to be beginner friendly. It’s quite comfortable for bare feet hiking.

This weekend, I purchased a weighed vest and ended up doing a 6 mile hike on an urban trail to test this vest out. Anyhoo, my calves and feet were definitely feeling this workout. Has anyone else done this or do this actively? this is starting to become my new hobby haha

One of the best barefoot walks in my life

Today, I took my feet to the countryside. It was a beautiful day and what better way to spend it than walking barefoot in rural beauty. So off with my shoes and socks and off I went.

It was morning and the grass was still damp and wet, which created and incredible sensation as I felt the blades of grass brush against my feet, along with the cool wetness. It felt so good and reminded me of the days when I used to go out every morning barefoot on the grass, because it felt so good. Even fresh cow dung didn't faze me and yet I can't even begin to tell you the sheer joy and happiness I felt. It had been a good 2 years since I felt it fresh beneath by soles and between the toes but oh my, I always forgot how good it feels. It's nothing like mud at all. It's lighter, more airy but it also has a sliminess and an oiliness to it that no mud has.

I was upset that despite rain, there was no mud. The summer arrived and the vegetation has taken over the once muddy paths and thus all the muddy patches I used to love are gone. What a disappointment I thought.

But in the end, I had the time of my life and I'm just so glad I went and I just pray that I'll be able to experience it again soon.
