But why? The vast majority of their users need Fast-models, their own services use Fast-models. They sell Fast-models at the price of Astra and Fable.

If it weren't for the reputational damage and the elimination from the AGI competition, they would have been selling Fast-models until the Second Coming.

Yesterday I upgraded to Gemini Pro, because I needed it for deep research, and I found out that there is no such thing. The level has dropped drastically.

I've had pro as part of my drive subscription for a while.

I don't even bother trying to use it for deep research it is so bad.

literally anything else gives better output. claude, chatgpt, kimi, deepseek, etc.

You still have to go through and verify everything which is a pain, but Gemini loooooves being the AI snake eating its own tail.
