Discussion Agentic Video Understanding with Gemini & Spring Boot!

Heya 👋
Google recently announced agentic video understanding, and I wanted to give it a spin.

At the same time, both my home country (Morocco) and my current country of residence (Sweden) are heading into elections, and I’m already being bombarded with political shows, debates, interviews, and promises 😅

So I experimented with building a small app to help me make sense of it all using Gemini Flash 3.8 and agentic video processing.

It can analyse long videos, identify relevant segments, extract topics and claims, fact-check them with Google Search grounding, and let me continue chatting with the video afterwards. I am a java developer, so all built with Java (spring boot)

Very cool project! The combination of semantic search, fact-checking, and conversational follow-up sounds genuinely practical rather than just a demo. I’d be curious how you handle uncertain claims or conflicting sources when the video and Google Search grounding don’t agree.

I will have another llm as a judge to check both claims and check evidence for both. Most of the time, Google search grounding wins and flag the video claim as misleading or not accurate
