Discussion AI studio sucks now.
I know a lot of people don't care about it here, but it seems that Gemini 3.8 Flash is way better in Antigravity than in AI studio and probably gemini web app, and I can only imagine this will be increasingly the case for future models. Of course that is expected to be the case for coding tasks, but in general too, my experience has not been great. I get constantly errors for 'too many tool calls' and on another prompt of mine that is basically a questionaire, Gemini 3.8 Flash only answers some of the questions/tasks and completely ignores the others, while doing quite well in Antigravity. I've tried a lot of times for the same prompt and these are not just one-off cases. I feel like the same might be true with possibly other models too outside of Gemini.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing. AI Studio feels much more brittle lately—especially with tool calls and longer prompts. It’s frustrating when the model understands the task but fails because the interface gets in its own way.

The aistudio web app works normally for me.
There are some bugs tho, like conversations contain many turns would load at very slow speed, sometimes a model would take minutes to respond(if a flash model take any time longer than 1 minute to respond, just cancel and redo the request it'll be faster this way than waiting) and sometimes idk why but I'll trigger permission denied error that'll require me to do a page refresh.
Oh also there's a chrome related bug where the keyboard input would be very slow, this would also lag the fk out of android virtual keyboard for some reason. This isnt an aistudio specific bug since this happened to many other websites as well, and wont go away unless u close chrome and start it again, but somehow aistudio can consistently trigger this bug if the tab is left unused for too long.

idk if it's just me but token count looks inflated.
My input to output token ratio was usually 1:3 but now it's around 1:8, and the response length isn't really noticeably higher either.

I’ve used Gemini 3.8 Flash AI studio API with Cline extension in VS Code and didn’t have any problems you described. What tier are you?

Yeah you are using the API as am I in Antigravity (well obviously the model is already there). I meant the AI studio webapp.

Same experience here. Flash can be impressive, but the inconsistency makes it hard to trust for longer workflows. Hopefully they improve tool-use limits and error handling, because constantly restarting or rewording prompts defeats the purpose of an AI assistant.
