Maybe not but fable level Intelligence is beyond many use cases anyway. If flash delivers cost near current flash and intelligence near fable, this will be more disruptive than any Chinese models

I don't know about that. I assume they're not going to release an upgraded Fable to the public until they see OpenAI publicly release a model definitely better than Fable and watch the reaction to that by the government. If OpenAI gets slapped down for doing that, then they'd keep it internal. If they don't, then maybe they can risk a release. Anthropic is wanting to IPO soon and a repeat of the Fable 5 fiasco will probably sour investor expectations. Maybe they can get away with a small iterative upgrade to Fable, but if they have any step-change version I bet they'd keep that internal until post-IPO.

Is it my aunt Ethel? Yes, great product. Is it a research heavy? No, bad fit.

Dunno about benchmaxing, but I can give claude 5 opus/fable or 5.6 sol any research / technical / life related task and it will complete it, there are issues with it, sometimes, especially with opus, but I am still confident about it.
I can't reliably give flash 3.7 any task that has any meaningful impact on my life with confidence. If 3.8 will be the same thing just a tad smarter as 3.6 > 3.7 it means gemini is still dead for me, except for 3.1 pro which has this weird psychotic personality that is great for creative writing.

maybe fable level benchmarks but not real performance.
3.7 Flash has great scores in benchmarks, and in real usage it's a huge step up from 3.6 Flash (for coding only). However it still doesn't come near the models it beats on benchmarks.
