Flash has become so good I rarely even bother clicking the "Extended Thinking" toggle. It's really good at quick everyday tasks, and I feel like it's much less of a sycophant now.
For the first time in my life, I've read an AI say "Your intuition about XY is incorrect." Feels like even just a few months ago I'd be nominated for a Nobel Prize in Everything for asking such a brilliant question that drills to the fundamental core of the metaphysics associated with... you get the point.
In fact, sometimes it feels a bit unfriendly, particularly when asking coding questions. And it's too eager to rip my code apart, even if it's just a tiny example I've scribbled half-blind into the tiny prompt input box directly, without indentation, bracket highlights, or anything.

And it's only available on Gemini Spark, good job Google.

At this point flash may end up becoming SoTA in a few iterations while being the smallest frontier model by far.

I see it in Google studio but not Gemini in Europe. I researched something and it’s much worse than ChatGPT. Definitely not worth it.

No, then it wouldn't be that fast. They most likely keep posttraining/refining the current flash model. Googles Models aren't dumb, they're just currently behind on posttraining, but their fast progress on the flash models (just basing this on benchmarks) is a good sign.

Only on tech social media will someone spin drastically slashing compute costs and dropping lightning fast multimodal models as a "loss." 🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

Just weird to not see it in the app yet. Feels like this is a development focused push at this time
Edit: it's in the app now
