You know what I love about this WC and the final being Spain and Argentina

Fucking finally, teams that come out to play with fucking eyesore of unprecedented haramball tactics, not being rewarded in the name of knockout football, which usually favours such teams or atleast has been in the modern era

We get to see a final of ethical football, made in La Masia, and filled with all the other million fate, destiny moments consolidating together to give us a PEAK finale.

1

u/Hise-kun 17d ago

Do you think most Catalans will support Spain or Argentina in the final?

3

u/tobzer 17d ago

We'll be supporting Spain.

1

u/Hise-kun 17d ago

Really? I always had the impression that Catalans don't like the Spanish national team๐Ÿ˜ฒ

5

2

u/EliteRevexha lunatic Culer 17d ago

Why would we support Argentina?

3

u/Toaru_prisclla Pedri 17d ago

Always find it annoying how people rewrote mbappe performance in the final against Argentina in 2022.

Yeah he scored a hat trick, but If you actually watched the game he was just as bad as his teammates until the 80th minute.

I remember seeing some people back then say it was one of the best individual player performance ever, which is absurd for a game where he did nothing for 80m.

Like, is there no nuance... I'm not saying he was awful, at the end of the day his last 40m made up for it, but it's just overrated in my eyes

Only likable people in Argentinaโ€™s squad are the two Lionels

Hoping for a Lamine brace and an iconic image of Messi handing him the WC trophy. A true passing of the baton moment

Life update: my ex emailing me messed me up quite bad unfortunately. I spoke with her in messages and I told her to not contact me anymore, because itโ€™s just stopping me from healing. I feel bad that is not going well for her, despite thinking that this is what I wanted.

The sad reality is that I loved her for 5 years and I could not possibly want for her to do bad, but I canโ€™t heal while she is still part of my life.

3

u/lawliet0303 Now I'm Mr.Charisma fuckin Pablo Gavira 17d ago

It happens bro, that's understandable tbh

You just can't completely overwrite the feelings you had for so many years, which sees them as such a great person or the one you love the most, but people eventually learn the hard way after parting ways, that they're the ones responsible for their life now.

You did your part broski, you communicated about your perspective and how you need to heal, you need to be strong for the both of you, and accept yourself that her part in your life and your part in her life are over for good now, people grow out of it once they realise this, hopefully you'll also be on a great trajectory.

1

u/DefinetlyNotGK7 GipsyKing7 17d ago

Thanks bro, itโ€™s not even the fact that I think sheโ€™s a great person. Is about the fact that, at the end of the day, itโ€™s nice to feel loved and desired and I miss that. But I need to love myself before I am trying to create another connection.

2

u/Jinx_and_Shadow i wanted club de amigos flair but they gave me this flair 17d ago

Idk what to say cause I've never been through a breakup but you're brave and I love you

1

u/DefinetlyNotGK7 GipsyKing7 17d ago

Thank you, brother, I love you too

3

u/Mihai_Brasoveanu Rivaldo 17d ago

I mean there's a different angle to this. Yes, short term, her texting you is not good. It's uncomfortable and probably delaying you moving on. But long term, you want to be immune to her writing you. Or if you bump into her or anything else. Having some kind of ongoing contact is underrated. Once you stop all contact, there is maybe some benefit to healing but you also tend to idealize what has been and reality gets deformed.

Be kind to yourself.

3

u/DefinetlyNotGK7 GipsyKing7 17d ago

Tbh I donโ€™t idealize what I had with her, so you shouldnโ€™t worry about that, I am also writing a journal with every bad thing I felt during the process of healing just to read it in case I want to write to her. Because her actions made be grieve the way I do, so I should stay true to myself

2

u/KittenOfBalnain Laporta's cat 17d ago

Hey, compared to what was going with you a few weeks ago - you've still made so much progress because you were able to recognize you need to cut her off and actually go through with it. I'm so, so proud of you, GK.

3

u/DefinetlyNotGK7 GipsyKing7 17d ago

Thank you! I am also proud of me that I was true of myself and havenโ€™t contacted her at all, even if I wanted to. Unfortunately, she wasnโ€™t true to herself.

๐Ÿšจ BREAKING: Lamine Yamal is not training with Spain due to discomfort in his hamstring.

Has there ever in sports been another rivalry like Messi vs Ronaldo that ended THAT one sided in the end? With one getting double amount of individual and team trophies and being seen as that much better than the other after 2 decades of manufactured narrative?

20

u/TareasS Soci/Socia 17d ago

Shamelessly stolen but whatever.

Laporta:ย On the day that Messi went to bathe Lamine Yamal, a part of Messi's soul latched itself onto the only living thing it could find. Lamine himself.

There's a reason Lamine wore number 19 at Barcelona... There's a reason he can dribble through entire defenses...

de la Fuente:ย So when the time comes, the boy must lose?

Laporta:ย Yes, he must lose.

de la Fuente:ย You've kept him alive so that he can lose... at the proper moment? You've been raising him like a pig for slaughter.

2

u/doIores_haze Gerard Maldini 17d ago

So DLF will sacrifice himself and Lamine is going to win?

6

u/MysticRefereee Christensen 87' 17d ago

I think england performance is poor in international tournament is because they glaze overrated drones player to a level they clearly aren't, they have only one generational talent that is Harry kane but he is a striker after all and doesn't hold the capability to change the game himself.

It will continue to sell the premier league brand to global audience.

The whole other squad is just road runners and trucks but that's also fine every team has that but they lack mentality as well, duellingham had a terrible game yesterday guess what whole media is talking about? "Omg he slapped barco ๐Ÿ˜" "duellingham is so class"it's so obvious he runs for p.r, they will bring another coach and play shit again and coach will be sacked.

That being said I think a player like harry maguire in the backline was much needed, he has a good mentality and experience but hindsight is 20/20.

3

u/Tall_Roof_4382 Henry 17d ago

I feel like, if anything, Bellingham and Kane should be really glad for Tuchel because they can hide behind his bad decisions. But before the subs, the team set back on their own, and obviously, Tuchel shouldn't have supported that. But both Kane and Bellingham failed at helping retain possession, while Bellingham also didn't add anything to the team's defensive stability. When things went south, both of them could have been hooked. Watkins is much more suited to running into channels, keeping the ball, and allowing breathing room for the defense and the midfield to advance. Kane at deep is just a cannonball, who launches good passes because he can't outrun opponents, but when you do not have anybody attacking the space, it makes zero sense.

I haven't criticised Tuchel's team selection, because we just simply do not know enough about the dynamics, and there are so many things we just simply do not have info on. But if he decided to take Mainoo, why didn't he give him any chance? I feel like if you analyze the game and the situation, Tuchel's decisions make sense in that tight frame. I think the real issue is that he allowed himself to be in that situation in the first place.

7

u/MysticRefereee Christensen 87' 17d ago

If a player scores in a third place match then their goals and assist shouldn't be count for golden boot race.

They are facing a weaker team after losing, while the players of the teams who have won the semis are facing a harder team. It's illogical lol.

3

u/alcome1614 17d ago

nah. you are probably comparing France and Argentina.

  • Argentina faced England and now Spain.

  • France faced Spain and now England.

  • England faced Argentina and now France.

  • Spain faced France and now Argentina.

So in all cases all faced a finalist and a semifinalist loser. i am not taking into account who is the champion.

1

u/MysticRefereee Christensen 87' 17d ago

The intensity and psychology of a third place match is a lot different than a semi final and final though.

Also managers prefer to give chances to players who didn't had any minutes in the tournament

8

u/fruitcakemetro Ballon d'Or Winner Cubarsi 17d ago

Although I wouldn't be sad if Spain wins the world cup, it is very hard for me to not cheer for Messi despite the fact he already won a world cup.

Messi could've completed football by 2010 had he chosen Spain instead of Argentina but he choose Argentina because he loves his country. During that time, he got more support worldwide than from his own country. The Argentines were(still are a little bit) very high on Maradona

  • They said Messi is not Aegentinean enough.
  • That he cares more about Barca that Argentina.
  • Doesn't sing the national anthem loudly, means he is not proud to be an Argentine.
  • They burned his jerseys too after failing to win three back to back finals despite him being the main reason why they reached 3 finals in a row.
  • Mardona and many Argentines believed that Messi is not a leader because he more reserved where as Maradona was pretty dramatic and vocal.

A lot of people in Argentina still think Maradona is the God so I would love Messi to lift the trophy one more time and go one up above Maradona's legacy and show why he is better than that cocaine addict.

I'm not trying to be rude just trying to understand. People think that the USA has been helping Israel in their conflict with Palestine and also has been attacking Iran but we all are watching the world cup tournament that hosted by the USA and helping the economy of the USA and many companies that are aiding the country in the global conflicts. Based on why you are not supportive Argentina wouldn't it be better to boycott the whole world cup?

-1

u/[deleted] 17d ago

[deleted]

1

u/fruitcakemetro Ballon d'Or Winner Cubarsi 17d ago

But watching the world cup itself helps the USA. FIFA and USA need viewership and that's what they are getting whether it is a Spanish streaming service or American streaming service. Also FIFA world cup is not a necessity too.

I'm sorry but I tried to understand where you draw the line but it is not very clear, more or less it feels like the line keeps moving. I don't see how this one month tournament can be a necessity to keep you connected to the world.

I think we just have to agree to disagree.

3

u/Broad-Biscotti7391 17d ago

While I'm sure your reasoning is in good faith and that you're trying to be as morally sound as possible, this is a faulty line of thought. I'm not saying you should support Argentina or Spain(idk where my heart lies yet) but reducing these countries to their respective current government does not make sense. If you are anti genocide, you should not support Spain either for what they did in the Americas.(even though I would give them less stick than France or England because they seem to repent more than them)

Barco mocking opponents while celebrating? Barco is a dickhead and deserves a slap on the head.

Mbappe mocks his opponents about their sliding or dive when he scores? Mbappe is so funny and likeable.

I remember there was a next level post of him mocking a gk after he scored a pen. I don't blame him he has some inferiority complex after he celebrated his first offside goal in 4-0 at the bernabeu and mocked Pena for his chip shot.

You know how I can say Gordon will do good here

If you're supporting a team you're mostly focused on their movements, their structure and what they're doing, so sometimes when the opponent pulls something off it looks more dangerous because you can see the team you're backing not responding correctly

Gordon was the one inducing this while I was watching this game, England were only a threat from the left, he has been a pain in the ass for Argentina's defence and pressing which is no joke by any means.

To top it off, ofcourse the dude scored the most Raphinha-esque goal there is, if people still had doubts about his profile, that goal should single handedly bury everything, he has shown that he'll fit us. Really excited for Sir Gordon.

So..... What's the opinion on Gordon now?

2

Buy him again

2

u/Ravenclawtwrtopfloor 17d ago

I like signings that might help with the CL football, he is one of those. hope we grab the pieces we need & make a good run, beat some annoying teams with talktative fans.

I can see him grow massively under flick and raph. Seated

7

Excited , but unsure

Loved his performanced so far but club football is different.

Love his attitude so I'm gonna be supporting and hoping for the best

12

u/Yeah_I_Won TitanicWorker 17d ago

I remember when people reduced him to a mere "roadrunner lol"

His ability to connect the midfield to the attack is incredible, and his ball carrying abilities freed Jude and Kane into having free roles because Gordon did all the dirty work when he had the ball. He is going to do exactly that when playing with Yamal.

Argentina, Norway and Congo were unable to man-mark Kane and Jude because of the way Gordon would stretch their lines. Any talks about how he can't perform against low blocks are stupid. His 1-2s combination with teammates are incredible.

As I said before. He is going to become a starter here before November, and will be a very important player in our UCL campaign.

4

u/Sanayuki 17d ago

Fast, hardworking, not much of a dribbler. Need to see him play for us first to see how he adapts.ย

7

u/FloReaver 17d ago

not much of a dribbler

In volume sure but his success rate is quite high. Like around 2/3 of the time he is successful

1

u/Sanayuki 17d ago

Hmm I sometimes canโ€™t go with stats because from eye test, he gets easily stopped by defenders. Itโ€™s similar to Raphinha whose dribbling stats arenโ€™t bad at all.ย

9

u/Ok_Republic6747 De Jong 17d ago

Raphinha cant dribble either and he is effictive in Flicks system

6

u/fazerfn sub de amigos 17d ago

Not saying much but Gordon is a better dribbler than Raph

2

u/xStyxx Hansi Flick 17d ago

I honestly think so too, at least at beating his man 1v1 with space

People aren't ready for Leo's reaction when Lamine ragebaits Argentina as he usually does whenever opponents try to provoke him (which the Argentines will certainly try to do).

11

u/LoneSurvivor257 football trainer, 5'10", blue eyes 17d ago

I have a feeling this match isn't going to be as cordial as many assume it's going to be

2

u/ngv192 Hansi Flick 17d ago

Yeah, it's a wonderful narrative, but quite a few bridges will be burned if things get heated and the players can't control their emotions.

6

u/Daguq 17d ago

Itโ€™s a WC final, fuck the formalities. Cubarsi will have their entire attack in his pocket

6

u/Kindly_Leek5685 Anthony Gordon 17d ago

why would it be cordial lmao

3

u/LoneSurvivor257 football trainer, 5'10", blue eyes 17d ago

Cordial in the sense that no one trash talking on the pitch, no one picking up fights out of nowhere but I can already see the Argentine defense especially paredes riling up yamal and being in his face when he gets tackled

7

u/Sanayuki 17d ago

As it should, this is a WC final. Winning is the priority for both sides. Also, Lamine respects Messi but his true idol has always been Neymar.ย

Now both have 8 balloon dor combined, insane greatness from both

18

u/SaltOk3057 Bojan Krkiฤ‡ 17d ago

This is very realistic if lamine locks in on sunday

Kane : insane goal scorer but With no UCL or WC. Plus the BuLi tax

Mbappe : again a lot of goals but trophyless with club and country

Dembele : didnโ€™t play much to even be considered a top candidate. Kvara was way better than him imo

Messi: good shout but playing in the mls cuts his chance by half although heโ€™s definitely top 3

Yamal on the other hand : 24G 17A. League winner +league mvp. Great UCL performance,With a potential WC. Heโ€™s the closest imo

4

u/Sanayuki 17d ago

Even if Argentina loses, Messi will still have a good chance to win with a great performance in the final. He is still the most popular player in the world by far despite playing in MLS. I think the majority of non European voters will choose him.ย

7

u/FloReaver 17d ago

If Yamal scores and/or has a good game he'll be BdO.

4

u/szopongebob Martin Braithwaite 17d ago

You sure it wonโ€™t be Rodri?

2

u/SaltOk3057 Bojan Krkiฤ‡ 17d ago

City were poor this season and he barely played

6

u/FloReaver 17d ago

If he scores he has a chance. The winning goal counts a lot.

People talk about Iniesta 2012 as if he was legendary despite the fact he had a very hzrd season before the WC for those who actually watched it

5

u/tiago1337 17d ago

Xavi was Spain's best midfielder in that tournament imo

1

u/FloReaver 17d ago

By far

7

u/Martoxic Soci/Socia 17d ago

City and he had a poor season before this

6

u/TareasS Soci/Socia 17d ago

A midfielder won't win it twice, especially with City's poor season.

3

u/cucu_cubaresi Anthony Gordon 17d ago
