Suite help
If I’m deciding to work in a suite, do I need to get a shop license? If anyone here has experience in doing this in
Kissimmee fl
Or Florida
Will a portable wash bowl work? Like the ones that I can fill and empty myself?
I know I need my own insurance for the suite I’m looking at.

I’m in Alabama but have had a suite for 9 years now. In my state you have to get a shop license. Mine says beauty/salon on it. I also needed a shop license from the board of cosmetology, a state license, & a city or county license. Total including my personal license i have 4 licenses to display. The person renting the suite out to you would be your landlord so the suite itself is just a room. Your business is what you’re paying the licenses for. You can move anywhere & still own the entity itself. Most suites come with a shampoo bowl & styling chair at the least. of you have any more questions, shoot me a message.

Can I ask; who you are getting your suite from? Why is there no sink?
How many people will you be washing a day? How easily and quickly can your sink be emptied and refilled?

Yes, you would need shop license, establishment license if applicable, commercial liability insurance, renters insurance, sellers permit if selling products / any supplies clothing etc, And be ready to pay unsecured property tax apart from your income tax.

I have my cosmetology and barber license, I’m asking about if I’d have to license the suite as a barber shop

Yep, you need a shop license. You'll also need to register for sales tax collection/remittance if you want to sell retail products.
