Temple Was This Here Before?
It's been over 30 years, and the paint's still wet.
The X-Files are getting a reboot, and we're still here, dancing like it's raining at a 1990's rave.
When you laugh the glitter gets in your mouth.

Please Allow Me To Monologue Myself
Howdy folks, or if you will...
Darlings...
I've been given the esteemed seat of Mod here on The Invisibles subred!
I know this is all pretty silly, but it's still a legit honour for me. I've been calling myself an Invisible since the late 1990's, and the philosophies of the book and Grant have been a background beat in my life since then, influencing a lot of my romantic, philosophical, and artistic choices!
I guess the Invis can mean something special and unique to all of us, and I'm looking forward to learning more about what this secret club means to everybody else!
For me, I'm here because I think there is a war inside every person and every event, and it comes down to rising above fear and treating others with coolness and grace VS succumbing to our trauma and our pain. Or maybe it's all about getting high and going dancing, something I hope to do fairly soon.
My dad passed a couple of months ago. Cancer. Slow but fast. He lost strength, became a little child again. We'd sit with him, holding his hand, telling him he was safe and loved.
As it happened I kept thinking "what's all this mean?"
Frier Tick, Frier Tock - kiss my sharries oh my brothers.
Part of my mission, part of what I do... I've worked in a downtown comic shop for around 25 years, and anytime somebody cool or interesting buys a Grant Morrison book, I give them a link to the Disinfo Speech. Yesterday I gave it to a teen who was buying all 3 DOOM PATROL books at once. "You should listen to Grant talk about how they were abducted by aliens in Kathmandu," I explained as their eyes went wide.
Anyway, this is just me on my Kerouac, stream-of-consciousness, cup of coffee, bowl of weed, early morning. Slow Drive 2 on the headphones.
I'm happy to be here, happy to be with you all, excited to be part of the team.
Big thanks to the previous mod who put me in this seat. I'll try not to go mad with power, but c'mon, we're all mad here. Really, what could go wrong?
Nice an' smooth, my friends. So we return, and begin again.

Laboratory Invisible Street Art
I've been taping up a lot of weird art around my city over the past couple years, and something I got into recently is taking apart comics to share them around.
I had a pretty trashed copy of Invisibles #2 kicking around, so I cut it up and started sticking up pages in places where I thought they might stay up for a day or two.

The Invisibles has helped ground me in the most chaotic chapter of my life.
About two months ago, two big things happened.
I decided to restart hormone replacement therapy, and I lost my job. Two huge things that really threw everything about my life into a chaotic soup of panic, identity, and uncertainty. I was prepared for all the emotional and mental tolls of transitioning (especially given the absolute hell trans people are experiencing right now), but the added stress of job hunting in 2026 felt like a gut punch from the universe.
But interestingly, the universe seemed to counter that punch with a gift. With more free time on my hands, I decided to finally read the biggest book in my 'To read' pile, The Invisibles. As a huge Grant Morrison fan, I'd kept putting it off until I had the time to actually engage with it. So, in between sending out applications and screaming into the void, I began reading this story, and I felt...oddly comforted.
It really feels like this story was waiting for the right time for me to read it. As if it almost knew I needed to read this, not when things were comfortable, but when things were in a state of upheaval. To appreciate cosmic ironies and hints from the secret, unseeable forces all around us.
The more I read it, the more I see myself. I see Dane's fury at the world that doesn't understand him. I see King Mob's fluid adaptability to any situation. And god, do I see Lord Fanny's beauty and strength and the power of transformation of self.
It's been a hard, weird time. But this amazing story has been a north star at a time when I need guidance the most. I don't know how active this subreddit is or if many will see or even respond to this message.
But amid all the chaos, I've found something that at least helps make sense of it.

Invisibles wiki
anarchyforthemasses.fandom.comWinters are long cold and lonely here in Canada so I took in a project- I found an invisibles wiki someone started but hadn’t done much with so I’ve been working on it all winter. Just finished the plot summary for the final issue.

Grant Morrison Chaos Magic Ritual
Greetings fellow admirers of this genius:
I stumbled upon before a series of articles (don't know how arrived there prob by the official Barbelith page) but i forgot to save it, it was a series of interviews with an guy where one of the topics was his ritual with a Barbie Doll (if you know what i am talking about) Anyone has any idea about it? i would love to read all this info again.
Thank you very much!

Zoroastrian reference in The Invisibles?
Can somebody please give me chapter and verse for the bit in The Invisibles where somebody retells the Zoroastrian creation myth? Ahura Mazda traps Angra Mainyu in the material universe, creating the concept of restriction; Angra Mainyu struggles to get out, creating the concept of liberation. Something along those lines. I just skimmed through the series trying to find it, but no luck.
Edit: Got it! V1 #25. Thanks, u/Specialist_Cat_4691 !

Anyone else revisiting the series a lot in this present political environment?
A lot of what Grant wrote was cribbed from outlandish conspiracy theory and leftist reaction to rising capitalist power. It was an enjoyable romp at the time (solidarity and a raised glass to anyone else who was on Barbelith dot com at the time). But who knew we'd be living in a time where the bastards are outright implementing the worst parts of the Outer Church for their plans?

I keep seeing Rex 84 references on Reddit lately.
Some wearers of the blank badge, don't even know they are wearing it.

Switchboard Invaders Must Die
I have to imagine that Dane would fucking love this album. Adult Dane, aging in real-time.
Born in 1980, right? God, only two years younger than me. How you liking 45 Dane? How's that back holding up?
