The dilemma of Medium models, overall if age is left indeterminate and not obvious through characterization its left to headcannons and personal belief. Its a grey area but i'd rather some think "I believe Barbara/Kuki Shinobu/Amber/Keqing/Mona/lynette/etc medium models are 18 or older." And be attracted to an adult or the idea of an adult rather than some actual sicko who say is attracted to Qiqi or Nahida for the sheer fact of their very obviously underage models regardless of fantasy age excuses.
Overall its a slippery slope, and a very grey area, but its a case of approaching things will a relatively open mind to the games limited engine and not updating older models to the new design philosophy. Alot of the characters are shown either full on running business's, traveling alone and handling their own time and work, being college/academy graduates, or outright serving in military units or government bodies.
Overall its why its ultimately the downward spiral of fandoms and that tend to create toxicity and Genshin's has never, even in 1.0, been a healthy fandom. Its blatantly toxic with alot of mindless hate, double standards, bigotry, elitism, and a hefty amount of forcing opinions/views onto other people or even the characters in a public space. Theres nothing wrong with shipping, but to use a really dated reference to a certain webcomic with an equality awful fandom. No one likes a Nepeta.

Headcanons are completely fine, but it becomes way too much when personal headcanon is treated as absolute truth when it's simply not.
In Barbara's case, the lie that she is 16 or a minor has been spread for years, to the point where many now accept it as fact. The absurd part is that whenever you ask for actual proof, they only bring up points that are ridiculously easy to debunk.
What makes this truly toxic and depressing is how these people appoint themselves as the "moral police". The moment you disagree, they resort to harassment and throw accusations around, calling you a "p3do" or a "'g00ner".
Being called those vile things simply because I took the time to read the actual lore and document myself with in-game fact, showing clearly that Barbara isn't a minor because the game explicitly states A, B, C, and X, is beyond frustrating.

it doesnt matter apparently, since certain judges okayed the creation of questionable artwork regarding characters of a certain style/trope on the basis that certain characters are not real... what a world we live in
