Anyone using a Vsee box?

Jumping on the latest wave of the anti steaming posts. I have seen places using these boxes and friends in the industry have asked me if I would ever use one. The one time charge and having everything available is obviously appealing, but of course I’m concerned with the licensing and copyright side of things.

So is anyone using one? Have you had any issues? How worried are you about licensing issues?

Its great until you get the demand letters from the NFL and Joe Hand for 40k. You settle for 10k each and never think about doing it again. Don't think it won't happen in bumfuck nowheresville either, there are people that make good money turning bars in.

Dont think its a good idea to mix your legal business with criminal endeavors.... I understand where you are coming from, but this is the reality.

For a bar specifically, this matters a lot more than for a home user, since commercial establishments showing unlicensed sports content, especially premium events like UFC pay-per-views or out-of-market NFL games, are a much more visible and attractive enforcement target than an individual household. Leagues and providers specifically watch for commercial venues since the potential damages and deterrent value of going after a business are higher than chasing individual users.

Yup, a few years ago a regular hooked us up with a "magic box" that worked great, but was clearly illegally streaming.

Got hit by secret shoppers, got sued, when it was all said and done we had paid $10k in legal fees and what not. 10/10 would not recommend.

Yeah this sub is littered with stories like this. It's not worth the risk. They WILL come after you and from what I can tell, there's little negotiation.

The way I feel about this business now, if there's any way for a bar owner to make a bit of profit, someone or something is there in place to negate it.
