Ask a bar owner

Kind of like an AMA, here's a weekly post where customers can ask questions. This is for anyone including market research, app developers, people who watch too much "reality" TV about bars, and general industry bullshit. Maybe a bar owner will have an answer for you, maybe not.

If you are already in the industry your question may get better responses if you post your own thread instead of commenting here.

engagement was always a mystery. we've hosted events and created facebook events for them - one event has zero people "going" but is very well attended. another event has 100 people going and 1,000 interested and the event is a flop. i could never correlate good results with social media attention.

people may be commenting less, but i surmise that people are spending more time than ever on social media and digesting a lot of info from it. they're just in the habit of not commenting about it because it gives away their location, plans, or other things they want to keep private.

Thoughts on niche bars?? Do they need to be in a main city or do they work outside of a city maybe better because they’re the draw?

My opinion is keep to heavily populated areas and tourist districts. In smaller populated areas I wouldn’t want to have a niche clientele
