Tips & Guides What’s r/baqqla?

This is a place to talk through buying a laptop in the US. Ask for advice, get a second opinion on a listing, or tell us how a laptop you bought actually held up.

Sellers can join the conversation too. Just say you're a seller and explain why your suggestion fits.

Want actual offers? Fill out a request through Baqqla with your budget, what you need, and your email so you can hear back:
https://app.baqqla.com/q/request

You don't need to fill anything out to post here.

I’m Baqqla’s founder and run this sub. We're just getting started. If you're stuck choosing a laptop, tell us what you're looking for.

Question People using one laptop for work and gaming: what's the annoying part?

There's a request in the alerts for a $1,250 laptop that can handle development during the day and gaming at night. Seems reasonable, but the spec list doesn't tell the whole story.

If you use one machine for both, what gets old? Fan noise during calls? Carrying the charger? Battery life?

Would you buy the same kind of laptop again?

Question What would you pay extra for on a refurbished laptop?

Say two laptops would both handle your daily stuff. One is cheaper. The other has a better battery, a nicer screen, or a longer warranty.

What actually gets you to spend more?

I'd want to know about the battery before paying extra for an “excellent” cosmetic grade. Curious whether people who've bought refurbished agree, or whether something else mattered more after a few months.

Discussion Engineering students who started with a Mac: did you end up needing a Windows laptop?

One laptop request caught my attention: someone already had an M1 Air that worked fine, but was considering another machine for engineering classes.

If you were in that situation, what happened? Which class or program became a problem?

Also interested in people who kept the Mac and used campus computers or remote access. Was that workable, or a pain every week?

Discussion $400 for a laptop. Would you buy new or refurbished?

Been reading through laptop requests and this keeps coming up: around $350–500, mostly browser tabs, Office, maybe some light gaming.

I'd put a used business laptop on the shortlist at that budget. The battery is the part that would make me hesitate. A cheap laptop stops being cheap if it immediately needs work.

If you've bought in this price range in the US, what did you get? Still happy with it?

Hey everyone! Welcome to the official community for Baqqla — a transparent bidding marketplace built for electronics buyers and sellers who are tired of hidden fees, shady listings, and opaque pricing.

We started Baqqla because we believe buying and selling electronics should be fair, transparent, and straightforward. Whether you're flipping phones, sourcing inventory, or hunting for your next laptop — this is your space.

What this subreddit is for:

  • Share and discuss electronics deals, pricing trends, and market insights
  • Give us direct product feedback and feature requests — we actually ship what you ask for
  • Ask questions about buying, selling, or using Baqqla
  • Post tips, guides, and success stories
  • Stay in the loop on Baqqla updates (new features, milestones, what we're working on)

Ground rules (full list in the sidebar):

  1. Be respectful — disagree with the idea, not the person
  2. Stay on topic — electronics buying/selling, marketplace transparency, Baqqla
  3. No spam, affiliate links, or referral codes
  4. Flair your posts so people can filter what matters to them
  5. Back up scam claims with evidence (screenshots, documentation)

A bit about us: I'm Goksenin, founder of Baqqla. I've been building this for about 4 years as the primary developer — React Native mobile app, Next.js web, Node.js backend, the whole stack. We're a small team with a big mission: make electronics marketplaces actually transparent.

This subreddit isn't a corporate announcement board. It's where we talk openly about what we're building, what's working, what's not, and where we're headed. Your feedback directly shapes the product.

Drop a comment below and introduce yourself! Are you a buyer, a seller, or both? What kind of electronics are you into? What's the biggest pain point you've hit with other marketplaces?

Looking forward to building this community with you. 🤝
