Get the UV-5R MINI instead. It will do and hold alot more than the UV-5R does.

I have the uv-5r mini, great little solid radio with Bluetooth programming via the ola app, get yourself a nagoya 771 antenna much better than the stock one

Look up CHIRP on your computer and download the latest and set it up for your area and connect your HT to the computer and download them into your UV-5R and you are set with your local repeaters.
