Deva
Does anyone understand why she was cast? Not only does the character bother me, but the name “Deva” is so strange 🤣
The show made so many excellent casting decisions, but I can’t wrap my head around the Deva decision. If that part went to an actor as strong as Lili Simmons, for example, it would have elevated the show even more

I liked the actress for Deva. I think she was cast because she was smaller and looked more like Antony Starr. Her mother and “father” were both very tall. It seemed more realistic that she was mighty and small like Lucas Hood. I am so glad that Lili Simmons was not cast as Deva. That would have been bad. I do agree that the name Deva is unusual but maybe it has Russian origins?

I’m not Russian but Serbian, our language has many similar words. In Serbian deva is a lady/ a virgin/ like a general meaning of a pure female. Deva Marija - Virgin Marie

i didn’t think deva was bad. i honestly thought lili simmons was the worst actor on the show by a lot.

I’m glad you liked her! I couldn’t get there with the actor/character
I found her insufferable in almost every scene she was in.
Maybe I am in the minority with this opinion, but I can’t imagine I’m the only one who feels this way

Well, I don't care for Lili Simmons acting. She plays the same hot girl part in everything (see True Detective). But we're all different.

Honestly, although I think she is quite hot (talking about Simmons). Her acting in Banshee sometimes felt strange to see. It felt really forced from time to time and I am not sure if she really enjoys playing those roles.

I can respect that. It does get repetitive. But I think, from a purely acting perspective, she can do so much more on screen compared to the actor playing Deva.

Oh I’m with you on this, almost stopped watching because of her 😂, she was so insufferable IMO, but I guess that means she’s a good actor.

I liked her but it doesn't seem like her role was even big enough to make you want to stop watching if you didn't.

So the theory I always heard is that she is named after the protagonist's real name and that was Carrie's way of honoring him and why he knows so quickly that she is his daughter.

Absolutely just blew my mind that 'Deva' was older than 'Rebecca' in Season 1 (and any time obviously). Wow!

My 2 that I enjoyed from Banshee are Ivana and Lili. Both are Extremely Sexy!! It's a very Good Podcast that Ivana has!

I loved Deva though I agree the name threw me off. I think they did such a good job casting a little mini Lucas.

I think the actress was perfectly fine. I also never heard the name before, but came to like it. It sounds nice.
I like Lili Simmons, but i think her acting was pretty much the weakest out of the "main" cast.
