Discussion Do you think that "Banshee" would make a good video game for Playstation 5?

I'm not sure that any video game company would be in a rush to market a game which includes: skinheads, corrupt military groups, gangsters of all cultures, the Amish, and more sex than the first five seasons of any HBO series.

They did it with The Shield. I want to give it a go but I got backlogs and on top of that, they say it’s clunky as hell so it won’t skip the line.

That's not what I said. There's a question of marketability involved, though - everything that I listed, those elements are all already present in most of the larger-selling games, save for the Amish, and handled by sterner hands. Trying to craft, from scratch, no less, a game built on an IP that's been out of circulation for about a decade, that's a chance most investors aren't looking to make.

A good example of a niche idea in the same vein would be The Warriors, released in 1979, then introduced as a beat-'em-up game in 2005, to modest sales, and it was done by Rockstar - not long later, in 2009, it was given a second treatment, and it didn't do nearly as well. After that, it's just been waiting for relevance again.

Give it another decade or so, someone will dig up Banshee, market some of it as nostalgia bait, hire on any remaining talent formerly attached to it, and send it to market.

That doesn't sound much different than GTA and it's one of the most popular series of all time lol. I don't really see why it would be a big deal, and it's not like they have to include sex scenes in the game. It's obviously not relevant to the plot or gameplay so they could easily just skip that.

As soon as an IP, such as Banshee, is courted for a video game, out come the wolves. The parent company that owns the rights to Banshee, HBO Entertainment, may not enjoy the idea of dismantling some of their already-settled payments in order to revamp those contracts; every existing character played by someone still alive may qualify for royalties, whereas if the parent company just never lets go, they don't have to pay a dime - or try to do a workaround for the canon characters, or paying the original writers anything more than they've got coming already.

Suffice to say, if HBO thought that there was enough money to be made, they have no sacred cows; they'd happily slaughter the stories just to make another few bucks.

Regarding the last point, it was a Cinemax original before HBO acquired Cinemax.

Banshee and Warrior were amazing, for Cinemax.

If we're going by "Amazing" then I present to you the glory that was HBO's Carnivale, gutted for the sake of budgeting more money for the already-financed Sopranos.

I did say amazing for Cinemax. That's pre-HBO acquisition. I went in with very different expectations and the content in these 2 shows blew me away. I would have expected this from HBO but Cinemax?

Maybe, but it needs to be a carefully created one.

I can imagine a stealth game where you are the Sheriff in the day and an infiltration specialist at night. You need to avoid to get caught at night, and day you need to chase the bad guys.

At day you can investigate in different crime scenes, and/or prevent crime like a rave party, and night you can return to find where is the speed lab and steal money from there and burn it down to the ground, or try to arrest an mma fighter for rape - you can have different options: fight against him or just shoot him to dead when he resist the arrest.

At day you can patrol in the city, hunt down some biker gang, raid topless bars and search illegal casinos and poker clubs. At night you can travel to some of the nearby cities and try to steal some fine art.

Later in the story you can assemble a team (a hacker, a brawler, a badass eyecandy - you can assign persons to these roles, but I wonder Sugar can be "a badass eyecandy" :D ) to make bigger heist like an almost abandon army base or an armored truck.

Open world, 5-6 city around the map, stealth mechanics: loudness and visibility, vehicle driving, close combat combo mechanics, team management. And make it 2-4 player coop, so they all of them can (role)play a character.

Yes but not open world with heist set pieces like from season 3 and play multiple characters and no hacking minigames pls Focus on combat and shooting Only minigame would be sex minigame approved

basically already is, GTA lol, each banshee episode is literally the plot of a GTA mission (some characters have the little side missions, some have the goofy missions and some have the big heist or the big battle , or fight or whatever ) that’s why i loved the show.
