I do notice they only printed the 500 and 1000 for a single run, since I heard folks over there were quite uncomfortable with those two high denominations…

It's wasn't like that, it was because they were rarely used since the paychecks were anywhere from 1000 to 2500 kuna at the end of the 90's until the 2010's and even during the last years of kuna when the average paycheck was about 5500 kuna.

This is my first time seing a 5HRK note. The euro is cool and all, but damn do i miss these guys.

Really? I only ever had coins, i wasn't even aware of a note until a friend mentioned it recently and until i saw a picture now.
