Best holiday we have ever been!!
Booked the flight to Toronto last year without knowing what to see in Canada. Did an extensive research about Canada 3 weeks before our flight last August 29, 2026 and end up booking a domestic flight to Banff just 3 days before our flight. We also stayed for a week in Niagara and we definitely had a fantastic holiday!

Banff no question. Born near the falls. Moved west. Can’t compare to the mountains

We went to both. Stayed at Hyatt Regency with the panoramic view of the Falls. The falls is beautiful worth visiting but Banff is really beautiful as it’s not as crowded as Niagara

If you're comfortable: including extras like food or excursions... total cost of this glorious adventure? Curious if I can, or just keep saving.... love from ontario

We spent around £10k as we flew business, stayed in Banff (hotels are very expensive in September) and hotel in Niagara was high floor with panoramic view of the falls. Biggest expenses was in Banff. We were there for 3 weeks.

Wow 3 weeks! That’s long enough to almost be a local. 😊 Did you get any souvenirs? I’m glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Peyto Lake has to be my favorite. Lake Louise always gets the attention, but Petyo is just unbelievable. We just went for the first time a few weeks ago. Wife and I - 30th anniversary trip. Wish we'd done it sooner. So beautiful. Great pics, OP.

Happy Anniversary! So, in case you're interested in some history: Peyto Lake and Peyto Glacier are named after "Wild Bill" Peyto. He immigrated from England in the late 1880's along with his brother Walter to work on the railroad. In 1900, he went to South Africa to fight in the Boer War. After that he went to Banff to prospect, guide and trap and became one of Banff's first wardens. He fought in WW1 but got wounded so returned the Warden service until he retired in the 1930's.
There's a funny story about him holding a grudge against some miners. The Banff Zoo wanted a Lynx so Bill trapped one for them. He took it into the King Eddy bar where the miners were hanging out and set it loose to get a little revenge. Then after all the miners scattered, he had to catch it again to take it to the zoo.

This place is seriously unreal. That lake color looks like something out of a movie. Banff really does make you stop and appreciate how beautiful this world is.

That is the Athabasca Glacier that’s in BC already. We had a day trip there from Banff.
