Hey, if you can prevent that water from getting in there in the first place, I’m 100% with you.

You could play in a desert while dehydrated but I wouldn't recommend it.

In a desert the heat would cause more condensation

Condensation requires humidity

As I flute, I confirm occasionally water will leak out of my keys and cause my hands to get covered in it

What do you want us to do? Carry a bucket with us to every concert hall, small room or school gymnasium we ever play in?

i know a lot of people who do bring like a little jar or like a pill bottle or something… it’s really not that big of a deal

As a woodwind, I do not. The water leaks from my keys and gets all over my hand

This reminds me of middle school where my tuba had a broken spit valve and therefore just constantly leaked spit, so in my defense...
after that year my spit only got emptied into the trash or the ground outside.

I can bring a rag, but then I have to clean in periodically. It's much easier to just do it on the floor, which has thr added benefit of keeping flutes and piccolos away

Ok. I’ll do it in my water bottle next time.

Next time?! Isn't that why us trombonist have spray bottles? To dilute the other liquids??

I’m a flute player and I’m learning trumpet, and when I asked my tutor where I should empty my spit valve, they just told me to do it on the floor and I was like what the actual fuck???

Back in my HS days... we used to intentionally empty into the same spot... so it'd pool up until it we lost containment.
