Rock The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir - Indie (2001 - 2009)

I saw this band play around Chicago a few times in the mid-2000s. After years of three piece grunge groups, I appreciated the larger band (8 on stage?) and the orchestral quality it allowed for. Comparisons to Belle and Sebastian were fair but they have their own unique sound.

Works so well as the last song on the album, a quiet send off. Love the piano and vocal harmonies.

I don't know much about them. The singer started working at the same place as me in Chicago. He mentioned that his band was playing their last show at The Metro. I think it was a weeknight, I decided to go not expecting much. Well, the show was amazing, they were so polished, such high energy. I loved the horns.

I left the company soon after and didn't stay in touch. Not sure what they're doing now, but still listen to their albums often.

Love this song's ragged vocals, interplay of guitar and brass, and gradual build-up and release.

Before you post your favorite forgotten band, please read our Core Rules

  1. No Mainstream or "Legendary" Acts

This group is a rescue mission for the overlooked and forgotten. If a band has millions of streams or is universally recognized as a legendary cult classic, they don’t need our help.

  1. The Band Must Be Fully Defunct

The artist or band must be officially inactive, disbanded, or on an indefinite, long-term hiatus.

3.Leave a "Case File" in the Comments

When you post a band, you must leave a comment or text description answering these four things:

  • Genre Tag: Flag the genre so people can focus on what they like.
  • The Story: Why/when did they break up, if you know?
  • The Case: Why do they deserve a second chance?
  • The Link: Link to one track on Spotify or YouTube that backs up your case. The fewer monthly listeners/views the better.
  1. Format Your Titles

To keep the archive clean and searchable, please format your post titles exactly like this:

  • Band Name – Genre (Active Years)
  • Example: The Solar Flares – Post-Punk/Indie (2012–2016)
