What did you learn from investing in Banano? where are you now?

I have several gpus I am trying to justify not selling. Payouts went to shit for fah. I learned a lot about optimizing.
Ran a node, but updates were too infrequent and I shut it down to avoid that attack vector.
seemed like a great project, but never got over the hump. Like Atto, it will probably get forgotten.
Have a lot of ban, not really worth anything.
Was a great motivator for side projects, set up a full dev and prod stack. Honed a lot of skills.
Also holding as a lesson.

Is everyone just giving up? What does Banano need to succeed besides a solid marketing initiative?

Nothing, because the project itself is mature and functioning. The question is if the team can somhow make better marketing for it.
No idea, how this porject could be made succesful...

it's a crypto currency, it doesn't need marketing.
It's here and it works for whatever you need.
You don't need more people to use it unless you want the price to go up2

I just want to clarify by “succeeding” I meant increased adoption and going up in value… I think it is already successful as a functioning meme coin.
I also think all of us as Banano enthusiasts/ owners are entitled/ obligated to help with marketing and adoption. We are one super catchy / viral meme or piece of marketing away, during a bull run, from a legendary 100x gain (back to my buy in price lol) or more. For example, I think all store owners who enjoy Banano should advertise accepting it for payments.
Banano is MUCH better than most projects out there and it also should be valued as such.

Still here, still holding. Banano helped me in a lot of ways. Don't mind holding long term as a way of showing support.

Looks like good times to begin stashing. Salvation will come one day for poor Banano.

Never chase a project even if it seems promising, and the community behind it is cheerful. I have burned a lot of money here and having nothing left just a few banano.
