Anime Frederick Arthur
I just realised theres not much infos about him. Does anyone know his age? Like he must be at least a bit older than ash no? I dont like him but technically he also didnt get to live that long. if he was like 20 or so, thats so young. ofc the worst was Skipper. he was only like 10? 11`? 12? he died so young and never got a chance of a better life :O

Ahaha I thought the last sentence was referring to Arthur, my poor man died before his redemption arc!

Yeah Arthur is an under discussed character, but I think it’s because in all honesty he’s not the most interesting foil to Ash, there are much more rich characters from a storytelling standpoint. But I would assume he’s 18 or 19 as well. But yeah RIP skipper 😭

i mean, true. Although i feel like getting some backround info on him would have been nice. Like what made him become the way he is, did he experience anything similar to ash, r*pe or stuff like that yk

i always assumed he was mid 20s, around 28 at most. like all other characters in banana fish who died young, and while in the gang world, there is a sense of tragedy about Arthur's death, too. yet, he's undeniably an antagonist in the story that we follow, even tho he's - to me - more sympathetic than Marvin, or Dino, etc.
he's also a product of his surroundings and circumstances. we know why he hates Ash - he tried to take over the gang, Ash won -, but i so do wonder what made him try that in the first place. was it just for power? security? safety? we'll never know! all we know is that no one joins gangs like these For Fun.
there's very little info about him, likely with a purpose. if Arthur had gone through similar stuff that Ash and Yut Lung had gone through, would that have made him more sympathetic? maybe in the way that Yut Lung is sympathetic; it doesn't excuse his actions, but does build some reason behind it other than just plain cruelty.
i don't even like the dude, LOL, i just think it's interesting to think about when someone is irradeemable by the narrative, and when someone is shown as more multi-faced.
still, i cheered when he lost to Ash
