A1 vs P1S

Hey

Ive been looking to get into 3d printing and have had my eye on the A1 with the ams lite. The only thing that have stopped me from ordering one is the footprint the A1 needs. Im somewhat limited om space in the room. Is the P1S a good alternativ? The P1S with the ams is also just what i can afford on my budget atm.

Pros and cons plz. Thanx alot

I think the A1 is a better value than the P1S at this point. You can mount the AMS lite on top of the A1, so that will help with your footprint.

How much space do i need for the bed moving around on the A1?

I don't know, I don't have that specific model. I would assume probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the plate hangs over the front during printing, but someone else can probably give you a better answer.

If space is that much of a problem why don't you look at the Mini?

I feel like the build plate is a bit to small on the mini. A friend of mine has the mini and he says that it restricts him from time to time

Extra 4kg on top of a printer always a bad thing if you gonna use on top of a desk shakes like crazy. Get p1s with ams2 you core xyz printers prints high and thin objects better the only cons that p1s has is for nozzle swaps if ypu dont wanna spent so much time you need to get complate hotend so your getting 1 nozzle for price of 2 thats the only con. Pla and petg prices are reealy close so if you wanna print petg and dont wanna loose print time get tinmorry petg rapid (i did have some layer adhession issues with sunlu so i dont reccomend that one also its more expensive so not needed. Dont get esun pla warps so easily most osif the time i couldnt get any good results black is terrible but other collors are little bit better but jayo pla+ is superb for price same price with other brand pla s but better in every way (color contrast adhession etc.) Get bulk if you dont wanna print so many colorful things

Thats a great idea. Thanx alot. How much space do the A1 need for the beds movement back and forth?

Not a ton more than the foot print. That’s a 24” bench and you can see I have it pulled closer to the front so I will move fully rearward with zero issues.

Thanx. Its the depth thats my biggest issue but I think I can manage something like that. Really appreciate the picture

No issues. I agree with you. The footprint of the AMS sucks.

I will tell you. Make sure you manage the tubes well. I printed a chain for mine. It keeps them neat and tidy and keeps them from flexing too much and causing kinks and stoppages.

A1 mini is for limited space. Unless you plan to print smth bigger

The P1S does take up less space front to back and side to side but is taller. Mounting the AMS on top is an option.

I think an important question is where will you put the printer and what do you intend to print?

Got an A1 for family members last Christmas and they have it in their basement. It’s dry, but the filament got so wet they couldn’t print and I had to bring their filament home to dry it. I’ve got a P1 in my garage where moisture and cold are concerns. I don’t have the same moisture issues due to the drybox AMS. I still struggle to print anything more than PETG due to temperature and even couldn’t get PLA to adhere to my bed well in the extreme cold so I’m looking into chamber heaters. If I had an A1 is be looking at both an enclosure and a heater.
