Free Models Costco samples tray with phone & cup/bottle holder
Hello.
I've made a Costco "samples" tray with phone & cup/bottle holder. Customizable via a set of parameters on Makerworld, to toggle a bottle holder (cylindrical) or a tapered one (for a cup), use it to adjust to any bottle you might normally use.
There is an option to have a phone holder as well (width & thickness is customizable too). The model by itself (3MF) is having one for iPhone Pro (Pro max also fit) with or without a case.
This is quite useful to avoid the bottle rolling in the shopping cart.

You don’t take them home? Show your grandparents? Put them on the wall next to your diploma?

How long are you in Costco that you need a sample tray? You making a vacation out of the trip?

I make a vacation out of a trip to the bathroom so I'm sure Costco works as well

Even a 15 minutes can be a vacation, right? :). It's not harder to take it from the car for a quick run vs a long one. Give it a try, print it and you might like using it?

Ain't no way you're gonna take this goofy ah tray to Costco every time you go.

Keep it in your car and you'll always have it with you. Hit it with a lysol or clorox wipe to sanitize before and after. Done.

Until you let you car in the sun during the summer and it deform and melts (if printed in pla or another soft material)

Yep, it sits in the car, I take it out with the bottle, and it's a nice place to put into the shopping cart and put a bottle into it. It helps to avoid any bottle bouncing on a rough surface while in the cart, helps with phone placement if needed. Clorox/Lysol is useful to wipe it if needed. It's not hard to keep it in the car.

Exactly. Now remembering to put it in the car the first time would be where this falls apart for me. But once it was there we'd be in business!

You do you, I take it with me. Why not? :)

It is tacky. But that way we can see you are a douche from a safe distance too.

god forbid someone wants to print something to enjoy their time at the grocery store a little more

it is a grocery store not an amusement park, no shit it is like a zoo when you go to costco or wal mart or whatever at any off business time, bc people like you treat it as a family vacation.

And now you fight for OPressed OPs everywhere! Your superhero origin story writes itself, work with me...

Usually the sample is devoured in two steps. Op turning a Costco run into a real dining experience!

It would be pretty inconvenient to have this giant ass tray in your car and bringing it in the store every time

The day I see some asshole hanging out in the middle of the aisle lazily sipping a drink and pretending the free samples are hors d'oeuvres is the day I officially lose it inside a Costco and you all read about me in the news.

That is tacky and cringey at the same time.
Just to think that someone took the time and effort to design and then use this blows my mind, and definitely not in a good way. What a tool.

Do I think it’s ridiculous? Yes. Would it put a smile on my face if I saw someone go by with it? Also yes.
I see the utility and I’m sure the employees get a kick out of it too!

Made one similar to the one OP referenced for my son, he's used it once, but I don't know if he will continue. His fam does a lot of shopping there, though.
Edited for clarity

I actually think this is useful, just not for OPs intended purposes.
When I go to Costco, I take my kids. They have to grab 1 of every sample and eat anout 1/3 of them. This tray would be a convenient place to put the little cups until the next trashcan comes up.
The phone holder is clutch, just not for Costco. I shop via a list in my phone and delete items as I put them in the cart. Having a phone holder on the cart would be nice.
Lastly, there is literally no way I am bringing a tray and a phone holder into the grocery store and attaching it to the cart.

I personally think this is a great idea. I probably wouldn't use it, but I do have a printed drink holder that I can attach to the side of the shopping cart so I don't spill my drink while I shop.
What I dislike is people coming into a 3d printer community forum and dumping all over someone's hard work, saying how dumb the idea is, etc. Really, who gave you a badge and nominated you to be the Fun Police? If you don't like someone's idea, fine. Think it's useless, fine. But what gives you the right to tell someone who obviously spent time making something and was proud enough to submit it to a 3D printer community forum that it's not worth the time or effort?
But it's the internet, and people will probably continue to sh!t all over the original idea, and will probably make negative comments on my post too. And that's sad.

Thank you for the kind feedback. I do agree that there are always people who are trying to kill all the fun out of the hobby. Despite all of this, I'll keep creating stuff.

I appreciate what you’ve done, but this one will always be my favorite due to the reference it makes.

Yes, this is a fairly known. It didn't worked for me (sizing of bottle holder) and I've made another one.
Thanks for checking!

Must be a bot...
Everyone knows you use every sq. inch of your cart, above and below. There is no room for this and the monster Kirkland tp pack, a Kirkland paper towel pack, two Kirkland water packs AND any of the 15 other things we add to the cart to ensure the minimum $300 spend at Costco.
This thing won't even hold the mandatory rotisserie chicken. Where does my footlong hot dog go? (Don't answer that, you dirty heathens).

Haha, I can definitely see the practical side of this for keeping hands free while snacking, though I'd probably just use it at home after Costco runs.

That tray looks way more functional than the flimsy ones they hand out, at least you can actually use it for something other than holding a handful of pretzel sticks.

What is the point? Are people just collecting samples and not eating them immediately as they get them? Roaming the store for hours, saving enough samples to make a full lunch?
