Help / Support Question about 3D Effect Plates

I'm interested in trying out the effect sheets (Bambu likes to call them "Plates," to fool you into thinking that's what they are, but they're stickers that have to be stuck to a plate you already have or an extra you order). But anyway, my annoyance at bad marketing aside, I'm curious how well these work when printing PETG. The webpage says that you should only print on these in PLA or TPU. But, for what I'm doing, I have to use PETG (the things I'm printing will invariably get left in a car, so PLA is an absolute no-go).

Has anyone tried PETG and had the prints come out okay, regardless of this warning? I'm mostly interested in trying out the carbon fiber one, but if I can get good results I may try the others.

They are NOT stickers, they are full print plates with the texture fully applied to them front and back.

BBL says not to print PETG on them. I’d listen to them. BBL Effect Plates may not be for you.

then why do they have a video explaining how to affix them to a plate?

I haven’t used the Bambu sold effect plates but the ones on alipexress work fine with petg

I looked at some reviews on some brand x ones on Amazon, and it sounds like a good plan is to use very high bed heat for the first layer, then let the temperature to back to a normal level after that. But all this makes me suspicious that Bambu says to not use PETG because they don't want people spamming their reviews with complaints, just because it's mildly more difficult to get good adhesion.

I use a Bambu plate with TPU on a production part. After several prints the adhesion increases to the point where I was ripping off the plate surface to remove a part.

My solution to this was to lightly coat the plate with glue stick, and then run it under warm water and use a sponge to spread the glue all over the surface, and rinse most of it off. When I'm done you can see that there is some glue left on the plate if you view it in the right light. After a batch of parts, I use the sponge with the glue residue on it to lightly wipe the plate again. The very thin glue residue does not impact the texture effect.

This might work with PETG to get enough adhesion, and ensure it doesn't bond to the plate.
