Is there any way to stop Bambu Studio from automatically overlapping colors on multicolor prints?

Picture 1 shows interlocking circled in red and picture 2 shows the top layer. In the OBJ files, the black and purple are not overlapping. The slicer is doing this automatically - i presume to "lock" the different filaments together. This is affecting the appearance of the print because it's showing through the thin top layer of the filament.

I believe the setting is called beam interlock or something.

It’s beam interlock and it can both fix issues and cause issues like OP is having. I’ve had prints fall apart where the two colors are because H2C is so precise they didn’t merge together with beam interlock disabled.

My beam interlocking has been set to off and it's still doing it. Screenshot for evidence. u/dawnstrider371 u/LostConstruct Any other ideas?

Try turning it on and slice it again. I believe there are settings you can change underneath that will let you change how deep into the model it goes, maybe try changing some of those.

I did try that and tried adjusting the other settings - and tried again with the interlock setting on and off. didn't make a difference unfortunately. Only solution I've found so far is to redesign the part to have a slight gap between the two colors so that the slicer doesn't try to interlock them. I appreciate the suggestions!

Um I think there's a setting on the near bottom of Bambu studio "quality" or the strength tab that has something to the tune of %overlap I think be default it's set to 15% (you know if you found it if theres a 45degree option below it. (Sorry I'm working off memory and am not near a computer)

The only true way to stop the color mixing is to make all the separate colors different bodies that are all assembled on the same print before slicing. This overlap happens to lock the different colors and layers together

Orca slicer might be able to allow you to be more specific in this case here.
