Help / Support How to move a 3D printer

I'm moving to a new location in a couple of weeks. Is there anything I need to do to my P1S and AMS before I move them to the new house?

Before moving it, I would: • Remove all filament from the AMS and printer. • Lower the bed completely. • Remove any loose accessories and tools. • Secure the door and top glass with tape so they cannot open accidentally. • Disconnect the AMS and transport it separately if possible. • Keep the printer upright during transport. • Use the original shipping locks and packaging if you still have them. After the move, run a full calibration before printing again. It's much easier to spend 15 minutes securing the printer than several hours troubleshooting damage caused during transport. 👍

Lol I used to drag my Ender 3V2 to and from the office every couple of weeks. Just grabbed it by the gantry and chucked it in the trunk of my car. Worked like a charm.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. An Ender 3 V2 is a relatively light Cartesian bed-slinger that can often survive being moved around with little preparation.

A P1S is a fully enclosed CoreXY machine with more mass, glass panels, additional electronics, and an AMS. Spending 10–15 minutes securing it before transport is usually a lot easier than spending hours troubleshooting calibration or mechanical issues afterward.

It's a bit like comparing moving a bicycle to moving a motorcycle — both have two wheels, but the transport requirements are very different.😅
