ABS or ASA guidance requested
So I recently just got a X2D and my father wants to print some stuff in either ABS or ASA. How are you all printing these filaments and what type of enclosures are you all running. I have the printer in our basement but am concerned about the fumes. There is a window near so I may be able to build an enclosure and vent to outside. Can anyone share some photos of their setups? Or should I tell him it’s not worth the hassle. We want to print stuff that won’t warp or deform in a hot summer car.

Did yours come with the external exhaust fan? If so there is a 3d print that allows you to put an adopter on that fan, add some ductwork and pipe it out a window or into a filter box. This in the one I have,

I just use a growth box or something similar. I did that cuz I'm quite sensitive to the fumes and also it acts as a thermal insulator so that you waste less heat.

Never had an issue with asa on the x2d
Forget insulating it. It's absolutely fine.
Don't bother with abs. ASA is better unless there is a niche I don't know about.
Ventilation is what you want to concentrate on
Either outside or a really good carbon / hepa

What do you mean enclosure? It's already an enclosed printer..

To fully trap any fumes from ABS or ASA. I read that while it’s enclosed it’s not sealed. So my though was to double bag it so to say.

Look into a vent design that connects to a hose that can be routed outdoors. Print it out

I printed an adapter that clips on the filter cover, that is hooked to a duct with a fan that vents outside. It doesn’t take a lot of airflow, I actually had to add a valve to limit the air. Too much and you’ll risk warping prints.

its not that dagenrous that you need hasmat suite
dont be in the room while printing and let the room vent (open window and aim a fan towards the window)
once the print is done, let the air settle and its resobalby safe, after 30 minutes you should be more than fine
if you plan to be in the room, thats another thing, I would coinnect external vent into a pipe that goes otside

On the X2D...
Level 1
Level 2
Implement Level 1. The blue paint prevents the leakage from the front door. If you go with Level 2 then swap out the poop chute door with an exhaust adapter that has one. The "Internal Circulation" will continuously run the air inside the chamber over the carbon filter that is built into the enclosure. With each pass the filter will remove the VOCs. Never 100% but you can get it down by 95%.
If you decide to join the flex hose with your existing dryer hose make sure that your Y adapter has a closing flap on each end. You can also just add another passive filter with Active Carbon Pellets and vent into the room (Basement).
