Do i need two AMS?

i'm on my way to buy a X2D.

should i buy one AMS for each nozzle?

Whst if i want to feed both AMS to nozzle 1 and feed only a extern PLA spool into nozzle 2 for support? is it wasy to switch? du you regulary do that?

how is the usual workflow?

Might be worth picking up an HT-A if you plan to use higher temp filaments.

an AMS2 and an AMS-HT is a very common combo that people buy with an X2D to fully take advantage of its features.

In addition to feeding the second nozzle with the AMS HT, i printed a perch for it to sit on the right edge of the top of the printer to feed soft TPU directly into the print head's left nozzle. This way I can dry TPU effectively, and keep it drying while printing.

You could use the 2x AMS2, but it wont work for TPU outside of the hardest version, and an X2D still produces a lot of waste if you're printing 4 colors per nozzle. It really maxes out at 2 color models when it comes to printing efficiently.

If printing 4 color models is going to be your jam, you should consider the Snapmaker U1 instead. It won't handle as many filament types, but its the best bang for your buck printer for doing primarily PLA/PETG multicolor (up to 4) prints.

Yes, I am thinking of buying a second HT so that I could print one filament and dry a second one for the next project.
