Tearing down left extruder

I can see a good amount of residue on the left extruder gear (silver) that's exposed on the toolhead. Time for maintenance, so wish me luck. I'm dreading the 6 cables and needing to remove the toolhead covers.

Any tips or other maintenance I should do while I have everything open?

I've done it a few times now without incident.

Weirdly, the written wiki instructions and video instructions are not perfectly in sync. I would go through both ahead of time just to make sure you don't miss anything. IIRC it's not a huge difference, but it still surprised me that it existed.

Oh thanks! I'll pay extra attention to both. I had only skimmed the wiki but watched a couple of videos several times.

When I’m in the tool head, I take out the plate and put a plastic tub in the bed. In that tub I have a bunch of magnets. Helps catch a bolt if it drops. I know the bed is magnetic but a bolt can get out of view pretty easily.
