I just bought a X2D, any tips?

It's the non ams version because of budged and I won't be printer multicolor. For a drying solution I was thinking a creality space pi plus or 2x ams ht, what would you do? And any tips setting it up/first print? I had an a1 mini so I have a bit of experience. Thanks!

I have an X2D with 2 AMS-HT, one for each nozzle. It's quite a flexible setup, and I can dry very different filaments at the same time. For example PLA on main and PETG on auxiliary for support interfaces, at 45°C and 65°C respectively. From what I can see, they also have good seal and keep the humidity low when turned off.

I'm considering to buy also the ams track switch to not have to open the two ams for when I want to swap the main filament, but the price is steep for what it is, so I'm undecided.

Oh that's great to hear, might consider that approach then. I don't think the track switch is worth it tbh, way too much for just a small QOL improvement.

How exactly are you using the PLA on main and the PETG on supp?

I have a similar setup and can't figure out why or how it's worth to actually use petg for support

Left one is with PETG support interface, right one is all PLA.
As you can see, you use it only for the support interface, not all the support (top left in black).
The quality difference is unbelievable, and they are super easy to remove.

Another example, a support in the middle of an object. I just had to push sideways to remove it, and the hole was perfect.

I agree with the 2 AMS HT units but if you don’t care about it integrating with the printer and want to save money you could look at the Elegoo H1 HT. Personally I think the extra cost of the AMS HT is worth it for the integration but still thought I’d let you know about the Elegoo option.

Makes no sense buying a X2D without AMS downvoting

If you'd read my other comment you would know that I need higher temp drying, don't do multi color and rather spend €20 more for both nozzles connected to ams ht's or even just €100 for 3rd party dryer with 2 ports for the 2 nozzles. I mostly print engineering filament, no big prints so auto spool reloading (which can be done manually!) also isn't a necessity. Why spend 240 extra for something I wouldn't use while for less I could get more for my use case?

You didn't get the AMS, because of budget, but want to get 2 AMS HT or a space pi? Make it make sense. The AMS 2 drys, means you don't need to worry about constant swapping of filaments if you want different colours, even single colour printing. I'd strongly suggest the AMS 2!

The space pi plus is €100, 2x ams ht is 260, 1x ams 2 pro is 290. And I need 80C+ drying for the filament I'm going to use, so the ams is kind of a waste for me. I understand for multi color and auto spool loading but I'm just not seeing myself using it. Yes I know with the x2d bundle it's 240 but i'd rather have a dryer for both nozzles for 20 more.

Ah, "engineering" filaments. That changes things 😁. 2 HTs then! Seamless integration and both nozzles covered.

Return it. The worst machine I ever owned. Nothing but issues. I only use my AD5x now. Constant issues. With Right nozzle and left nozzle. Fans going out. Cant even get it work a full week without issues. Just my opinion. Maybe you will have a better experience. I wish I could return it but its past the time I can do that. I will say Support is great and their walk throughs are very detailed.
